Platteville, Wisconsin
FoodShare is part of the winter market picture in Platteville, where the indoor season runs from November through April and gives shoppers a colder-weather counterpart to the market’s outdoor months. The winter market meets at Rountree Gallery, a downtown setting that makes this season distinct from the summer market in City Park. Platteville’s market has been part of the city since 1980, and the winter format keeps that long-running presence active when Wisconsin growing conditions shift. For shoppers planning a Saturday morning stop, this is the market’s indoor season rather than an offshoot event.
Since 1980, the Platteville Farmer’s Market has maintained a continuous place in Platteville, and that long timeline gives the winter market a local role beyond a single season. The market also notes its partnership with Platteville Main Street, tying the market to downtown Platteville rather than treating it as a stand-alone sales site. Nutrition access is built into that local role: many vendors accept SNAP, WIC, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers, and Platteville Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program vouchers. The market further connects with Platteville Food Pantry, Pioneer Food Pantry, and Family Advocates, extending its footprint into food-access organizations already working in the area.
The winter market’s vendor call gives a practical sense of the mix: staple foods, prepared pantry goods, plants, body care, and handmade items all fit within the market roster. That breadth matters more in winter, when the market shifts indoors at Rountree Gallery and keeps a multi-category lineup in play.
Rountree Gallery is the winter-market location, so head there rather than City Park, which is used for the outdoor summer season. The winter market runs on Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 PM, a different time block from the outdoor market’s 8 AM to 12 PM schedule. Dogs are welcome, which may matter if you plan to walk downtown with a pet. Restrooms are not listed as available, so it helps to plan your stop with that in mind. If you need to reach the market directly, a phone contact is listed at 608-218-4374. The summer and winter markets are both part of the same Platteville market operation, but the season determines the venue.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at the market, and FoodShare is specifically part of the market’s nutrition-program language. Many vendors also accept WIC, Senior Nutrition Program (SFMNP) vouchers, and Platteville Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program vouchers, so eligible shoppers have more than one benefit pathway to use here.
Indoor Winter Market location: Rountree Gallery, 120 West Main St., Platteville, WI 53818. Rain guidance is provided for the outdoor market (not the indoor winter market).

The Platteville Farmer's Market is a welcoming stop in your Saturday morning with a diverse lineup of vendors with baked goods, fresh vegetables, jams, honey, meats, cheese, fresh flowers and more. There are recipes to help know what to do with your market finds and something for everyone.
Great but small outdoor farmer's market. Love to make my weekly Saturday morning shopping trip here. Fresh veggies, home grown meats from local farms, local honey, homemade jams and preserves. Pet friendly and live entertainment.
Platteville isn't a huge town, but during the middle of summer, our Farmer's Market is terrific! We have great local farmers, bakers, organic meat, flowers, dog treats, and beautiful homemade crafts. It's a great place to go on Saturday mornings.
My son loves to go and buy baked goods and dog treats. I like to go and plan my weekend meals around what I buy. This weekend I am making a soup. It's a nice morning family event to get the weekend started.
Good selection for a small town. There were about 20-25 vendors with flowers, dog treats, homemade crafts, fresh produce and baked goods. Worth a visit to support the local economy!
