Winter Market
Dubuque, Iowa
At 1101 Central Ave, the Dubuque Winter Farmers Market sets up at Kennedy Mall, where volunteers gather early on Saturday mornings to arrange tables before vendors unload for the day. The winter market has operated since 2007 and runs as Dubuque’s cold-season counterpart to summer shopping, giving shoppers a place to meet farmers and pick up local food through the darker months. Inside the mall, the setting shifts the market experience from outdoor stall browsing to an indoor Saturday routine centered on produce, meat, bread, sweets, honey, coffee, and pantry goods from regional vendors.
The vendor mix leans practical for winter shopping: storage crops, eggs, meats, breads, preserves, honey, and indoor-grown greens all show up alongside sweets and wine. It reads like a market built for filling a kitchen rather than browsing a single category.
A weekly newsletter runs through November to April with recipes, market news, and vendor features, which can help regular shoppers track what is happening during the winter season.
The most useful arrival detail is where to enter: the market is at Kennedy Mall on the northwest corner of the main concourse, next to Hibbett’s Sports, and the closest entrances are on the northeast and northwest sides of the mall. Parking is free in the Kennedy Mall lot, which removes one of the usual downtown-market variables from the plan. The market runs every Saturday morning from November through April and opens later than the summer market, from 9am to noon. Dogs are not allowed, and the market lists no restrooms as a visitor amenity. For regulars, the weekly newsletter is sent throughout the season with recipes, market news, and vendor updates.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at the Dubuque Winter Farmers Market. The market also notes clear payment information for shoppers, which matters at a vendor mix that spans produce, meat, baked goods, coffee, cheese, wine, honey, and pantry staples. If SNAP is part of your shopping plan, this market supports it during the November-to-April season.
FREE parking in the Kennedy Mall lot; closest entrances are on the northeast and northwest sides of the mall.
Cash is preferred; some but not all vendors accept checks, EBT, or debit cards. The market offers a recycling program for Mason or Ball canning jars and cardboard egg cartons (no plastic or styrofoam).

If you are in Dubuque on a Saturday morning, you definitely need to stop here. So many vendors with custom crafts, fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers, and fresh food for breakfast or lunch are absolutely awesome. Each time we have visited, there has been live music. It's just a really great thing to visit and an awesome way to support local businesses.
9-12 Saturdays November through April. I was able to get fresh bread, micro greens, root vegetables, honey, grass fed meats, eggs and more. In 2021 they started having speakers once a month. If you don’t have cash you can stop at the information booth and they can turn your credit card to cash tokens. You can use your snap card to get tokens as well.
I LOVE THIS MARKET!! The veggi burrito w the fruity hot sauce was AMAZING! Thank you! to all the vendors. I live 1 1/2 hrs away, but try to go several times a year. I've only gone to your winter market once, but plan to go again
I normally work every Saturday morning so it was finally nice to get to go walk around and get local produce. I miss going more often. And I always bring home honey sticks for the kids if they don't join me.
A government establishment, but ran by the people of Dubuque and surrounding cities. Good place to buy local meat, fish, poultry, game, fruit, veggies, etc. I would 100% recommend going there at least once.
