North Rupert, Vermont
Vt Rte 30 is the setting for Mettowee Valley Farmers' Market at the Mettowee Valley Community Center in North Rupert, a quarter mile north of Herrick Brook Road. That location detail matters here because this is a small-route, rural Vermont market with a clear producer-only identity: vendors grow or make their wares themselves, rather than reselling from elsewhere. The Friday afternoon schedule gives it an end-of-week rhythm, and the market’s own mix points toward food and handmade goods sold directly by the people behind them.
The producer-only setup shapes the market more than any single category does: the emphasis is on meeting farms and makers selling their own work, with a compact opening-vendor roster that spans staple pantry items, orchard fruit, prepared food, and crafts. That combination gives the market a mixed table-to-table feel rather than a produce-only lineup, and one visitor described finding “everything from produce to fresh marshmallow fluff to hot foods” alongside craft items.
Because the market is explicitly producer only, that vendor list carries extra weight for planning: the cheese, maple products, apples, prepared foods, and handmade items all come through named businesses and makers rather than a general reseller mix. The result is a market where the listed lineup itself is the draw, especially if you like buying directly from the farmstead, orchard, kitchen, or craft table represented on site. One visitor noted crochet flowers, magnets, produce, marshmallow fluff, and hot foods during a recent visit, which suggests the Friday market can extend beyond the opening roster while keeping that direct-from-maker character.
No dogs are allowed, which is the clearest visit-planning detail to have in mind before you head to Route 30. The market runs Fridays from 3 to 6 PM at the Mettowee Valley Community Center, located one-quarter mile north of Herrick Brook Road in North Rupert. There are no restrooms listed in the visitor details, so plan your stop accordingly. If you want to speak with someone directly, the market shares a phone contact at 802-325-3478. The producer-only rule is also useful to know in advance: it sets expectations for a market centered on vendors who grew or made their own wares.
Market location is described as having a playground and ballfield; market is visible on Route 30 and is at a safer distance from road traffic.

Got the prettiest crochet flowers, magnets & more here this past weekend. So beautiful! A lot of vendors with a variety of options! Everything from produce to fresh marshmallow fluff to hot foods!
I remember when this Farmers Market opened. Well I was finally able to go back today. I was nice to see how big it has gotten and all the people enjoying the day.
It is my favorite place to go in Rutland. The produce is always better, farmers are friendly. Sometimes you get a taste of some new products. If you are visiting the area and have time on a Saturday I definitely suggest you to go pick a coffee and some baked goods . You won't regret.
Favorite Saturday morning stop for produce, maple syrup, freshly baked breads, organic meat and dog treats. Winter market is a bit more utilitarian than the outdoor festivities vibe in the summer months. Still many of the same friendly faces are there. I enjoy talking with them and supporting the local chefs, artisans and farmers.
This place is awesome! Tons of great vendors for everything you might want from a farmer's market. The coffee vendor was AMAZING. One of the best cups of coffee I've ever had.
