Farmers Market
Queens, New York
Elmhurst Hopsital Greenmarket sits within GrowNYC’s broader nonprofit work in food access, farming, education, and green spaces, which gives this Queens market a mission-driven frame from the start. Set at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst on 41st Avenue between 80th and 81st Streets, it brings a Greenmarket stop directly into the Elmhurst neighborhood rather than asking shoppers to travel elsewhere for it. The result is a market tied to both place and access: a seasonal Tuesday market connected to a city hospital campus and to a network built around getting regional farm food into New Yorkers’ weekly routines.
NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst gives this market an unusually practical setting for neighborhood food access, placing it right at a major public hospital in Elmhurst. That matters because GrowNYC describes its work as spanning education, food access, farming, and green spaces, so the market is part of a larger local system rather than a standalone shopping event.
The Greenmarket model behind this location also uses strict producer-only standards, meaning farmers and food businesses sell farm-based products they grow or make themselves. For shoppers, that keeps the market focused on direct farm-to-city exchange. The season also lines up with state nutrition support programs available from June to November, reinforcing the market’s role as a neighborhood place where fresh food purchasing and public-benefit redemption meet in the same weekly visit.
What stands out here is less a long published vendor roster than the mix of food access services and on-site programming centered around the Market Information Tent and weekly Tuesday operation. This market also layers practical extras onto shopping, so a visit may include cooking ideas, nutrition-oriented programming, and benefit support alongside farm purchases.
Every Tuesday during the season, those added programs help shape the market into more than a quick transaction window.
No dogs are allowed, which is the clearest visit-planning rule to know before arriving. The market is located on 41st Avenue between 80th and 81st Streets at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, so hospital-campus surroundings are part of the experience and the easiest landmark for orienting yourself on arrival. If you want recipes or help with market programs, head to the Market Information Tent rather than looking for that support at individual stands.
This is a seasonal market running from June through November, with Tuesdays identified as its regular market day throughout the season. Restrooms are not listed as a visitor amenity, so it helps to plan your stop as a focused shopping trip rather than assuming on-site facilities.
SNAP EBT is accepted here, and the market also participates in the Farmer's Market Nutrition Program, FreshConnect Coupons, Healthfirst OTC for select plans, Health Bucks, and Greenmarket Bucks. That combination makes this Elmhurst stop especially useful for shoppers combining weekly produce buying with multiple food-benefit programs.
Cooking demonstrations, educational programs, and free recipes at the Market Information Tent are available.

Every Tuesday, Elmhurst is blessed with fresh vegetables and fruits from upstate farms. You can get fresh sweet vine ripe tomatoes, corn, carrots, all types of salad greens, all colors of fingerling potatoes.
Nice spot for fresh vegetables, fruits, and local baked goods. Although not very many stands to choose from, I appreciative that we have a farmers market in this area of Queens and right outside Elmhurst Hospital's Community clinic entrance. Only there on Tuesdays this year.
I love the free samples by GrowNYC that taste great and include free recipes on how to use the items sold at the market. A nice selection of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as baked goods and honey.
Me gusta comprar verduras a los Farmers que llegan al vecindario cada Martes. Es verdura fresca y de buena calidad.
There were several stands with many different vegetables and fruits. The Vegetables were quite sizable compared to most super market products.
