Farmers Market
Brooklyn, New York
Brownsville Pitkin YM is part of GrowNYC, a nonprofit that funds its work through support for education, food access, farming, and green space in New York City. That mission-driven frame matters here: this Brooklyn market runs at Thomas Boyland Street and Pitkin Avenue and operates during the July-to-November season with SNAP/EBT acceptance built into the shopping setup. In a neighborhood setting rather than a destination plaza, the market reads as a practical fresh-food stop tied to GrowNYC’s broader food-access work, not just a place to browse.
Thomas Boyland Street at Pitkin Avenue places this market directly in Brownsville, where GrowNYC connects fresh food sales to a broader nonprofit mission focused on food access, education, agriculture, and green space across the city. That local importance is reinforced by GrowNYC’s Greenmarket standards: the organization says it maintains strict producer-only rules, meaning farmers and food businesses sell farm-based products they grow or make themselves.
For shoppers, that translates into a market shaped by direct farm selling and public-benefit programs rather than a generic retail mix. The season runs from July through November, aligning with the period when GrowNYC also highlights nutrition support programs for low-income shoppers and regional farmers.
The strongest throughline here is utility: the market is documented through its accepted currencies and benefit programs rather than a roster of named vendors, which suggests a streamlined fresh-food stop centered on everyday shopping. What is clearly established is the payment mix shoppers can use on site.
GrowNYC also posts systemwide programming such as Greenmarket SNAP updates and resources, which fits the market’s emphasis on food-access tools alongside shopping.
No dogs are allowed, and restrooms are not available, two details that can change how you plan a stop at Brownsville Pitkin YM. The market is located at Thomas Boyland Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brooklyn and runs only during the July-through-November season, so this is a seasonal errand rather than a year-round routine.
Payment flexibility is a major practical advantage here: cash, debit, credit, SNAP EBT, Farmer's Market Nutrition Program benefits, FreshConnect Coupons, Healthfirst OTC for select plans, Health Bucks, and Greenmarket Bucks are all accepted. GrowNYC also notes a Health Bucks incentive: spend $2 in SNAP/EBT or Summer EBT and receive a $2 bonus Health Buck, up to $10 per day.

We came here in January 1st and bought a few things , like a nice fluffy blanket. And a few curtains and some sheets. And we will be there again soon enough. The prices are great 👍🏾 and the people are polite. I look forward to going back

You walk into a nice atmosphere that welcome you with smiles. I was curious and wanted to check out the ambience. The drink was amazing with just the right amount of alcohol for me. I'll definitely be going back. Thank you Bargain Land & Bar.
Loved shopping there this week. Found some long over-sized t-shirts with pockets that feels awesome against my skin. I am picky with man-made materials...found great denim jackets at affordable prices..
