I always love to buy fresh, local products from here. This greenmarket is conveniently located next to the Natural History museum, so especially if you're a tourist looking for a local experience, come here! Plus, Grand Bazaar NYC is next door, so it's also worth taking a look at. Shoutout to Toigo Orchards for their excellent apples!
We love going to this farmer's market every Sunday. It makes us happy. The produce is great. We buy the fresh pasta almost every week. The pretzel guy sells the sweet caramel and salt pretzels. They are amazing.
The 79th Street Greenmarket by GrowNYC is in the upper west side by Columbus Ave on Sundays from 9am-4pm, with some vendors packing up earlier. It is in a nice, shady space next to the Natural History Museum, and has a long line of vendors. A few of my favorite vendors include Lavender by The Bay for local soaps, Ronnybrook for returnable glass bottle dairy, Gajeski and John Madura and Wood Thrush and D&V Organics for mostly no-spray organic practice farming of fruits and vegetables, and She-Wolf, Lost Bread, and Francesca's Bakery for many whole grain options of breads and baked goods. Love this market!!! 3 blocks of fresh local fruits, vegetables, baked goods and more. You can find everything here from grass fed beef to the freshest seafood, chicken and duck. Beautiful booths with fresh flowers and try to pass the baked goods without buying something.
My beloved local Green market! Just a fraction of Union Square's size, but this market has great variety and outstanding vendors. Prices are usually higher than at the supermarket, but everything is local and mostly organic, and the quality can't be beat. Go early if you're serious about getting the best produce and seafood.
