Farmers Market
Brooklyn, New York
Greenpoint - McCarren Park Greenmarket connects a Brooklyn neighborhood stop with GrowNYC’s wider nonprofit work in food access, farming, education, and green spaces. Set at Union and Driggs by McCarren Park in Brooklyn, the market runs every Saturday, year-round, giving Greenpoint and nearby Williamsburg a regular place to shop within the park setting. That pairing of a fixed weekly schedule and a mission-driven operator gives this market a practical role: fresh food shopping is tied directly to an organization that also invests in city food access and environmental programs.
GrowNYC operates this market as part of a nonprofit effort that funds education, food access, farming, and green space work across New York City. For shoppers in Greenpoint and the McCarren Park area, that means the weekly market is part of a larger system built around getting fresh food into city neighborhoods.
The market also sits within Greenmarket’s producer-only model, where farmers and food businesses sell only farm-based products they grow or produce themselves. That standard matters locally because it keeps the market focused on direct farm sales rather than general resale. SNAP EBT is accepted here, and GrowNYC also names related food-access programs including Health Bucks, Greenmarket Bucks, FreshConnect Coupons, and the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program within its network.
The strongest emphasis here is less on named individual vendors and more on the market’s regular Saturday presence plus programming tied to food education and seasonal Greenmarket activity. Expect a straightforward GrowNYC market framed by producer-only standards rather than a long roster of highlighted sellers.
Cooking demonstrations appear as part of the market’s programming. Educational programs are also part of the mix, alongside activities for families. Seasonal Greenmarket programming in the wider network includes resources on shopping, holiday schedules, SNAP updates, and fall food events such as Cider Village.
No dogs are allowed, which is the clearest visit detail to plan around before heading to McCarren Park with a pet. The market is located at Union and Driggs near McCarren Park, making the park itself the easiest landmark for orienting your approach. Restrooms are not available through the market setup, so this is a stop to time accordingly rather than one to treat as a long linger.
The schedule is simple: every Saturday, year-round. Because payment methods are clearly supported on site, shoppers can arrive expecting standard market transactions to be in place rather than a cash-only setup. The broader GrowNYC calendar also notes holiday schedules and Thanksgiving week changes across Greenmarkets, so seasonal weeks may not look exactly like an ordinary Saturday.
SNAP EBT is accepted at Greenpoint - McCarren Park Greenmarket. Within the same GrowNYC food-access network, shoppers may also see programs such as Health Bucks, Greenmarket Bucks, FreshConnect Coupons, Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program, and Healthfirst OTC on select plans referenced alongside Greenmarket payment support.

Great farmers market, lots of different vendors. They have beautiful fresh flowers and delicious artisan breads. The people are always nice and it’s a nice way to spend a weekend morning ♥️
The farm fresh eggs are delicious 😋 and the G train drops you off in the immediate area also early in the AM you feel relaxed not super overcrowded. Also the selection ranges from beautiful fresh caught fish to home made apple juice to every kind of green you could possibly want, and the tomatoes 🍅 were plenty, home made pasta sauce anyone 😋
The vendors are all great, reasonable prices for fresh, local, ethically sourced foods. Lots of options from fruits and veggies to mushrooms, meats, eggs, ciders, dairy, honey, flowers, baked goods and more. Some places take credit cards but for those that don't, you can use your credit card to buy tokens to purchase from those vendors. We go here every weekend and buy a majority of our groceries.
I've been coming here since 2010, I think. Fantastic selection of produce from a handful of farms not too far away. Some are organic. They also have bread, honey, mushrooms and other items. Textile recycling is available and compost drop off as well. Open on Saturdays only, around 8am to 2pm (not sure of exact times) but get there early so you make sure to get the best selection.
Great selection of fresh veggies, cheese, yoghurts, bread. nice location, organic. The market seems to be growing in terms of number of vendors and varieties. One can also donate clothes
