Farmers Market
Bronx, New York
GrowNYC’s nonprofit work spans education, food access, farming, and green space, and that mission is the frame for the New York Botanical Garden Greenmarket in the Bronx. Set at the Mosholu Gate inside the New York Botanical Garden, at Kazimiroff Boulevard, Bedford Park Boulevard, and Mosholu Boulevard, this market pairs a garden setting with GrowNYC’s Greenmarket network. GrowNYC also describes its Greenmarkets as operating under strict producer-only standards, so the emphasis here is on farm-based products sold by the people who grow or make them. For Bronx shoppers, that makes this a seasonal fresh-food stop tied to a larger citywide food-access effort.
GrowNYC links this market to work in food access, farming, education, and green space, which places the New York Botanical Garden Greenmarket inside a broader Bronx- and city-serving nonprofit effort rather than a stand-alone retail operation. That matters in a neighborhood setting at the New York Botanical Garden’s Mosholu Gate, where the market brings fresh food into a major public-facing green destination in the Bronx.
The local value is also practical: GrowNYC says its Greenmarkets follow producer-only standards, meaning farmers and food businesses sell farm-based products they grow or produce themselves. GrowNYC’s green-space work adds another layer of local relevance, describing community gardens and urban farms as places where New Yorkers grow food, care for the environment, and host programs and events. In that context, this market fits a Bronx setting where fresh food and cultivated landscape meet in the same visit.
This market is defined less by a published vendor roster than by GrowNYC’s producer-only standard and fresh-food mission, so the strongest throughline is farm-based goods sold within the Greenmarket system. Payment programs also point to a food-focused shopping mix built around eligible grocery items and produce-oriented benefits.
GrowNYC’s events calendar also reflects the wider programming orbit around its food work, with items such as Greenmarket SNAP Updates and Resources and In Season: GrowNYC Gala.
No dogs are allowed, which is the clearest visit-planning detail to know before heading to the New York Botanical Garden Greenmarket. The market sits inside the New York Botanical Garden at the Mosholu Gate, at Kazimiroff Boulevard, Bedford Park Boulevard, and Mosholu Boulevard, so plan for a destination that is tied to the garden entrance rather than a curbside street setup.
The season runs from June through November, making this a warmer-month market rather than a year-round stop. Restrooms are not available on the market details provided here, another practical limitation if you are planning a longer outing. Payment methods are a strength: the market supports multiple tender types and benefit programs through GrowNYC’s Greenmarket system, which can shape how you budget your trip.
SNAP EBT is accepted at this market through GrowNYC’s Greenmarket system. GrowNYC market locations also accept cash, debit, and credit, along with FMNP, eWIC, Healthfirst OTC on select plans, Health Bucks, and Greenmarket Bucks. GrowNYC notes a Health Bucks incentive of a $2 bonus for every $2 spent in SNAP/EBT or Summer EBT, up to $10 per day.
All GrowNYC Greenmarkets accept SNAP EBT and other nutrition benefits; benefits are converted into wooden tokens/market currencies usable to buy fresh food directly from farmers.

I visit the gardens at least once a year to enjoy the flowers and special exhibitions. The trees and outdoor gardens are well maintained and labeled so we can identify them. There are the annual exhibitions such as orchids and the trains that are enjoyable. Everyone there are mostly courteous to others allowing people to linger and take photographs of themselves the flowers and the exhibitions. A worthwhile way to spend a morning or afternoon.
The New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx is a breath of fresh air amongst the hustle and bustle of New York City. Conveniently located for access, this expansive piece of property has various exhibits of plants and trees that will amuse any and all. My favorite exhibit was the Rockefeller Rose Garden, which had some breathtaking flowers that hardly seemed real. I can't wait to come back and experience the gardens at different times of the year!
Visited from Brooklyn for the gift-shop. Loved everything about this trip. The space was so serene. The staff were helpful and sweet. I do intend on returning and taking a trip throughout the Botanical Garden. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love coming here for the orchid show every year. The designs are amazing and walking the grounds in the winter is so quiet and relaxing. You don’t feel like you’re in the middle of the Bronx.
The train show was a great experience. It was a rainy weekday and there was space to move around and take photos without getting into others way. We could read the signs and take time to look at the intricacies described in the writeups. We were a group of 6 and could wander at our own pace. I have also visited during the orchid show on a rainy weekend when there was little room to move. I would highly recommend.
