Farmers Market
Monterey, California
The Monterey Bay Farmers markets also connect with regional partners including The Barnyard Shopping Village, placing this Friday market within a wider Monterey County market network rather than as a stand-alone stop. At Monterey Peninsula College, that network shows up in a broad vendor roster that ranges from farms and orchards to bakeries, seafood sellers, nurseries, kombucha, salami, eggs, and artisan pasta. For shoppers in Monterey, the result is a weekly market with practical basics and specialty producers in the same run.
Monterey Peninsula College gives this market a defined neighborhood anchor at 930 Fremont Street, tying a year-round Friday shopping routine to a campus address in Monterey. The market is part of the Monterey Bay Certified Farmers Markets organization, which also runs markets tied to places such as Del Monte Shopping Center and The Barnyard Shopping Village. That matters because the Monterey roster brings together producers and food businesses identified with nearby Central Coast places including Watsonville, Aromas, Santa Cruz, Sand City, Half Moon Bay, and San Martin across the broader market network materials. In practice, the market connects Monterey shoppers to a regional food system that includes farms, fisheries, bakeries, nurseries, and prepared-food makers under one weekly schedule.
The Monterey Peninsula College lineup leans broad rather than narrow, with produce farms, seafood sellers, plant growers, baked goods, cultured foods, and pantry items all appearing on the vendor roster. That makes this market useful for both a produce restock and a more ingredient-driven shop built around bread, fish, eggs, mushrooms, fruit, and flowers.
No dogs are allowed, a rule reinforced in the market organization’s news coverage about certified farmers market pet restrictions under California law. If you are driving, the easy part here is parking: the market notes lots of free parking, and parking is free. Plan for a straightforward Friday morning visit at the Monterey Peninsula College address on Fremont Street rather than a long afternoon browse, since the market runs from 8 am until 12 pm year-round. Restrooms are not listed as available in the visitor details, so it helps to treat this as a focused shopping stop built around the market window itself.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at this market. That matters here because the vendor mix spans produce farms, eggs, bread, seafood, and other grocery-oriented staples, not only specialty treats. Payment methods are otherwise noted as clear for visitors, which makes the market easier to approach if you are planning a regular weekly shop.
Lots of free parking; parking is free.
Year-round knife sharpening services are available for kitchen and garden tools. Animals are prohibited at certified farmers markets except for service animals (per California Health and Safety Code).

A good assortment of vendors, lots of organic produce and some grass fed meat and raw milk options. It's set up in a good location and lots of available parking when I went around 1pm.
High quality products. After going to the stand that sells local heirloom apples, I said I would never eat an apple again that was not from them. I have kept my promise.
I like this farmers market because I can get fresh fish, meat and vegetables in one place. There are many kinds of fresh vegetables and it's reasonable price. My favorite part is that I can eat fresh oysters at a seafood booth. It's very fresh taste!!
Nice market, a lot of really nice produce. Some stands selling meat, bread, coffee, and other items. Not a lot of ready to eat food options, but the ones there are good. A lot of available parking. Hours are short so pay attention to the time.
MPC Farmers market is one of the premier farmers markets on the Monterey Penenisula. This farmers market is every Friday from 10-2 rain or shine with several dozen vendors and amazing selections of produce, baked goods, meats, flowers and fruits along with a couple cooked food vendors. Lots of free parking day of farmers market. The also have farmer bucks you can purchase from an atm device to use at any vendor. I have not used this as bringing cash is super easy. Make sure to say Hi! and get to know the farmers and merchants your buying from, they really do enjoy talking to their customers....
