Farmers Market
South Boston, Virginia
Sentara Health is one of the named partners tied to Downtown South Boston Farmers Market, giving this market a distinctly downtown-civic frame rather than a standalone field-side setup. The market is located at 300 Broad Street in South Boston and is connected to the Destination Downtown South Boston effort, placing it within the town’s organized downtown activity network. That setting fits the market’s placement near Constitution Square, a recognizable downtown landmark that helps anchor a visit in the center of town. For shoppers, the appeal is straightforward: a seasonal market woven into South Boston’s downtown organizations, events calendar, and public-facing Main Street work.
Destination Downtown South Boston is directly associated with the market, tying it to the group’s broader work in South Boston rather than treating it as an isolated weekly stop. The market also sits inside a partnership network that includes the Town of South Boston, the Tourism Chamber of Commerce, the Industrial Development Authority, Main Street America, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
That mix matters because it places the market within the same downtown ecosystem that supports civic pride, economic activity, and visible public programming in the district. The surrounding organization also promotes family-friendly events for the community and surrounding area, so the market belongs to a larger pattern of downtown gathering rather than a single-purpose retail event. In practical terms, this is a market shaped by downtown development partners and local institutions already active in South Boston’s center.
This market’s strongest documented emphasis is its downtown setting and connection to public events, not a published vendor roster. What stands out here is the way the market is presented alongside signature South Boston happenings centered on the same downtown district.
No dogs are allowed, which is the clearest visit-planning rule given for this market. The market runs seasonally from March through November rather than year-round, so timing matters if you are planning a downtown stop around it. It is located at 300 Broad Street, near Constitution Square, which places it in South Boston’s central downtown area instead of on the edge of town.
Payment methods are clearly identified, and SNAP/EBT is accepted, which can make this market easier to plan for shoppers using more than one form of payment. Restrooms are not available on site, another useful detail if you are combining the market with other downtown errands or events. For broader downtown questions, Destination Downtown South Boston lists its office and contact information separately from the market itself.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Downtown South Boston Farmers Market, and the market also indicates that payment methods are clearly communicated for shoppers planning how to pay. That makes this a practical option for households using nutrition benefits as well as visitors who want clearer payment expectations before they arrive.

We love going to SOBO farmer's market. During the spring there is a guy selling beautiful flower and veggie plants, also vendors with canned items and baked goods. During the summers there are plenty of vendors with baked goods and vegiies/fruits.
So many great vendors from flowers to produce. Plants to food and drinks plus a variety of craft vendors. I like to go every Saturday.
A nice covered shelter with parking on the side. A great place for the farmers market and in a good location.
Nice selection of plants and locally sourced foods and home goods. If you are in the area on Saturdays I'd spend a couple minutes and check out out.
I can not say enough about these local vendors and farmers. Excellent produce, eggs, canned goods. Very friendly folk!
