Farmers Market
Middlebury, Vermont
50
At 73 Maple Street, the Middlebury Farmers' Market runs as a year-round market with more than 50 registered members, shifting from an outdoor season in warmer months to an indoor market from November through April. The mix leans heavily agricultural: nearly two-thirds of vendors sell local farm products, and the market's own description calls out vegetables, fruits, plants, flowers, CBD, meats, eggs, and goat's and cow's milk cheeses. That combination gives this market a broad farm-first profile, with enough prepared food and artisan sellers to widen the visit beyond produce alone.
Nearly two-thirds of the vendors focus on local agricultural products, so the core of the market is farm goods rather than a craft-heavy mix. Around that, the lineup stretches into prepared foods, starts, household goods, and a few beverage and textile makers that give the market more range without changing its farm emphasis.
The biggest planning detail is the market's seasonal setup: it normally operates indoors from November through April and moves outdoors from May through October. The market is associated with the VFW at 530 Exchange Street, with the parking lot used in summer and the market inside in winter. If you're bringing a pet, note that dogs are not allowed. The market is a sizable one by local standards, with over 50 registered members, so the vendor mix can cover a lot of ground in one stop.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at the Middlebury Farmers' Market. The market also presents clear payment information for visitors, which helps if you're planning purchases across produce, prepared foods, soap, textiles, and spirits.
Market location is at the VFW: 530 Exchange Street (parking lot summer, inside winter).

It's small but I love going to see what the vendors have each week. There is a farmer from hardwood farms who brings a select of starters, there is a farmer who makes, bakes and sells GF oats & breads. She also makes gelato! There is also a woman who makes gins, liqueurs, and rums. There are a few other tents that come and they are all equally wonderful. The market is on Wednesday and Saturdays 9am to 12noon.
I live in Middlebury, and enjoy the farm to table, with vegetables, pork, chicken, lamb, fresh bakery, the Greek prepared dishes, and the live music. The people are great to deal with. Love. It.
So wonderful to have an indoor farmers market in the winter! Had a great time chatting with each vendor and bringing something home from each one. Thanks for organizing this.
It's such a wonderful thing, you be able to shop from local vendors right in Middlebury! The organizers are doing social distancing the right way and it's encouraging to see all the vendors wearing masks!
There is always something good to find at the Saturday farmers market. Just make sure to go early enough before all of the tasty pastries are gone!
