Winter Market
Salt Lake City, Utah
Winter Market at Rio Grande connects Salt Lake City shoppers with the Downtown Farmers Market’s winter season while staying tied to a nonprofit mission: Urban Food Connections of Utah says it nourishes a healthy and joyful community through food-centric experiences. The market runs on Saturdays from November into April, giving the colder months a regular place to shop for produce, pantry staples, baked goods, and other locally made foods. That combination matters here: this is not a one-off holiday market, but the winter expression of a long-running downtown market program rooted in local food and direct sales.
The Downtown Farmers Market exists to strengthen and support small local farms and businesses as they bring their products directly to the public. At Winter Market at Rio Grande, that mission carries into Salt Lake City’s colder season instead of stopping when the summer market ends. Urban Food Connections of Utah frames the work broadly, linking the market to food-centric experiences that nourish a healthy and joyful community.
There is also a clear downtown place-based thread. UFCU describes a vision centered on preserving and activating historic Pioneer Park as a year-round venue for the Downtown Farmers Market, tying the market program to the city’s historic core even as winter operations shift locations. In practice, Winter Market keeps the local-food connection visible during months when weekly farm shopping is often harder to maintain.
The winter mix leans practical and food-focused, with the market highlighting weekly staples alongside prepared pantry additions rather than a broad entertainment pitch. Expect the selection to center on ingredients you can cook with now and baked goods you can take home the same day.
The biggest planning detail is location: despite the market name, the current winter location is Civic Center at 209 E 500 S, not 300 S. Rio Grande Street. Saturday shopping runs from 10am to 2pm during the November-to-April season. Dogs are not allowed, so leave pets at home when you head downtown.
Parking is more involved than a quick curbside stop. The Leonardo parking area can be reached from westbound 500 S or eastbound 400 S between 200 and 300 E, and tickets can be validated at the Salt Lake Public Library for up to two hours of free parking; time beyond that is paid by credit or debit card only. Street parking is limited to four hours on Saturdays at $3.50 an hour, and ADA-accessible stalls are available on 200 E and in the Library Square underground parking garage.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at the market, an important detail for shoppers planning a regular winter grocery stop. Parking beyond the free validated period at The Leonardo requires a credit or debit card, so transportation and shopping purchases may involve different payment methods on the same trip.
ADA accommodation information is provided for the Winter Market, including stalls on 200 E and in the Library Square underground parking garage. Parking guidance includes validated parking at The Leonardo via the Salt Lake Public Library.

What an absolute gem. The hot apple cider donuts are not to be missed. Vendors are so friendly and the huge selection of foods - perishable and non - is incredible!!! So happy we stumbled upon this during our weekend in SLC. Runs through October so ending soon!
Best farmers market around. So many vendors, friendly people, and extremely dog friendly. Great place to sit and have something to eat or a beer in the beer garden. It’s a regular start for us on Saturday mornings.
Best Farmers Market I've ever been to!🙂 Fresh cut flowers, fresh produce, refreshing drinks, fresh bread, food court, jewelry, art, clothes, live music (I don't know if they always have that but we sure enjoyed it!❤️ And there were plenty of trees to stand or sit in the shade.🌳 My whole family Loved it!💕
Great selection of products. From fresh fruits and veggies to meats and pastries and all kinds of handmade jewelry and pottery and food trucks and live music. Such a great vibe every Saturday morning! A must go place every weekend!
I absolutely loved the Downtown Farmers Market at Pioneer Park! There are so many unique booths with incredible items, but what stood out to me most were the people. Every vendor was so welcoming—I could browse and admire without anyone being pushy, which made the whole experience so enjoyable. Because I felt comfortable, I ended up buying more here than at any other market I’ve visited this summer. I went home with kombucha, sourdough, French bread, oil, a custom bowl, fresh fruits and veggies—and I also enjoyed the best London Fog I’ve ever had! This market is such a gem and I can’t wait to...
