Farmers Market
Greeneville, Tennessee
Depot Street Farmers Market in Greeneville is tied into Nourish Knoxville programming, with Nourish Kids Days scheduled across the season and family activities built into several market dates. The market runs as a 100% producer-only market, a detail that sets expectations for who is selling and what kind of direct connection shoppers can expect on Saturday mornings. Its calendar also gives the season a distinct shape, from opening day in May to themed dates like the Great Tomato Tasteoff, apple tasting, and Halloween trick-or-treating at the market.
The 50-mile vendor rule keeps Depot Street Farmers Market closely tied to Greeneville and the farms and makers around it. Vendors must both reside within that radius and produce the items they sell, and the market describes itself as producer-only or grower-only rather than a resale outlet. That local boundary matters in practical terms: when shoppers come for produce, meats, or handmade goods, they are buying from the farmers and artisans connected to this part of East Tennessee.
The market’s partnerships also stay rooted in local organizations. Nourish Knoxville appears throughout the season through Nourish Kids activities, while the Big Spring Master Gardener Association is part of the market’s 10th Anniversary apple tasting event. Taken together, those details point to a market that emphasizes local production and recurring educational programming rather than a one-off shopping stop.
The market’s own event calendar points to a mix centered on fresh food and handmade goods, with recurring family activities layered onto the regular Saturday shop. Rather than listing broad categories only, the season highlights a few products directly through tastings and crop-themed kids programs.
Seasonal events include Nourish Kids Days in May, June, July, August, and October, plus Halloween trick-or-treating at the market and a Holiday Market at Eastview Recreation Center in November.
No dogs are allowed, which is the clearest policy detail to factor into your visit plans. The market takes place at 200 West Depot Street in Greeneville on Saturday mornings during the main May-through-October season. If you are planning around a specific weekend, the calendar matters here: the market lists a closure during Iris Festival Weekend, and it also schedules special dates such as opening day, anniversary programming, and holiday market activity at Eastview Recreation Center later in the year.
Restrooms are listed as unavailable on site, another practical detail that may shape how long you plan to stay or whether you pair the trip with another stop downtown.
Depot Street Farmers Market accepts SNAP/EBT for approved products, and its materials also reference Double Up Food Bucks alongside the SNAP/EBT program. Payment information is presented clearly as part of the market’s visitor details, which makes this a workable stop for shoppers planning to use food assistance benefits on market day.
SNAP/EBT: Customers swipe at the Welcome Booth on Saturday mornings to purchase wooden coins at $1 increments; purchases can be made with coins and no change is given back. Double Up Food Bucks: $1 to $1 ratio up to $20 via the Nourish Knoxville program; tokens are free with matching EBT/SNAP purchase (up to $20 per day) and are only good for fruits and vegetables.

Wonderful Local Farmers Market open Saturdays, May through October, 8am to 12pm at the Greene County Partnership :) Local, Seasonal, Organic Produce and Products! All produce and products must grown/processed within a certain radius of the farmers market :) The market accepts EBT / SNAP, and all the market vendors are very kind and informative. Get their early for chicken eggs !
Stopped by the market today and got some very awesome bread, salad mix that was amazing, delicious jelly that is my absolute favorite, and a knitted hat that was completely adorable! Oh, and the best cookies I have had in a very long time! Great vendors, great people! #supportlocal
This is what I consider to be the ideal street market. Not so big that it's difficult to navigate, but not so small that it can be skipped. This market offers a surprising variety of goods each sold by very friendly folks. Breads, meats, crafts, and much more can be found here. Parking was not a problem for me in the lot across the street from the market. Crossing the street was easy and safe as cars are blocked from using the road. Most vendors take cards and Venmo, but it's not a bad idea to have some cash on hand just in case. Part of the charm for me is the partly hilly terrain, so keep...
We love this market!! Produce, honey, baked goods, meats, home decor, gifts, t-shirts..... It's open 8-12 every Saturday until the end of October.
Love our local farms market, and local vendors that support our community
