Farmers Market
Rapid City, South Dakota
Black Hills Farmers Market runs year-round in Rapid City and frames itself around a mission and vision for connecting local food producers with shoppers in the community. The market has served Rapid City for more than 30 years, with more than 40 small businesses participating, giving it a broader small-business mix than a strictly seasonal produce stop. Its schedule stretches from summer Saturday and Wednesday markets into a winter Saturday market, so the market stays part of the city’s food routine beyond the peak harvest months. That year-round structure shapes what you’ll encounter here: local farm vendors alongside pantry goods, fiber work, woodcrafts, floral booths, jewelry, and service-oriented stands listed on the market roster.
The vendor roster points to a market with a notably wide mix: farms and ranches share space with flower growers, books, fiber arts, wooden signs, knife sharpening, pet-focused goods, and personal-care makers. That breadth matters in winter especially, when the market notes that jams, jellies, syrups, and salsas remain available across seasons alongside the regular vendor lineup.
The market calendar also calls out Kids Month and Zucchini Day, two named seasonal features on the market’s programming lineup.
The biggest planning detail is the split schedule: Saturdays run year-round, but Wednesday market hours appear only from July into October. Winter timing also shifts later, with Saturday hours at 9 a.m. to noon from November through April instead of the longer 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday market used from May to October.
Dogs are welcome, which can matter if you’re building a weekend stop around errands or a walk. Restrooms are listed as unavailable, so this is not a small convenience to assume on arrival. The market is associated with Market Park on East Omaha Street in its own materials, while visitor details place it at 1520 West Omaha Street, making the exact arrival point worth noting before you head out.
SNAP/EBT is accepted here year-round. The market also highlights community sponsorships that help fund Double Up Food Bucks and notes Market Dollars in its food-access programming, signaling that payment options are part of the market’s year-round access focus. Payment methods are listed clearly for visitors, which is useful at a market with both farm vendors and craft-oriented sellers.
Dogs are allowed if leashed and well-behaved. Community programming includes Master Gardeners and Rapid City Public Library’s Book Mobile.

Love this little farmers market! The produce is so much better than the grocery store and I’m supporting local businesses. The bad of fresh basil was the jackpot for me! The fragrance of the basil on my way home was heavenly. I made the most amazing pesto! My only regret is that I didn’t buy more peaches🍑
Black Hills Farmers Market has local farm fresh produce & products, great people, and a nice friendly outdoor setting, happening every Wed & Sat mornings May-Oct, and every Sat morning all year long outside in Rapid City’s Market Park. Buy local from friends & neighbors.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — A Little Gem in the Heart of Rapid City! I finally made it to the Rapid City Farmers Market, and my heart is so full! Growing up in Utah, my parents owned a produce stand and greenhouse, so farmers markets have always been part of my soul — three days a week of fresh produce, the smell of flowers, friendly faces, and community. They’re near and dear to my heart, and stepping into this one felt like stepping back into that part of my childhood. It may be on the smaller side, but it’s overflowing with charm, color, and life. The vendors are some of the nicest people you’ll...
There's a great variety of items from fruits, vegetables, processed and raw meats, jams, honey, baked goods, corn, peaches, popcorn.... Something for everybody! The stall owners are all friendly, the prices for home grown produce and products vary also so price point options for everyone.
Fantastic experience, very friendly vendors. Vendors are willing to answer questions, and many take multiple forms of payment to include cards. There is live music, the library is there to check out items, and the booths have a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, jams/jellies, meats, and dessert options. The line for the Colorado peaches gets long, so come early!
