Farmers Market
Brookings, South Dakota
On the 300 block of 6th Ave, Brookings Farmers Market sets up between the Brookings Library and the County Courthouse, just southeast of the Children's Museum of South Dakota. That downtown placement gives the market a distinctly civic, walkable setting, with Saturday shopping tied closely to familiar Brookings landmarks. The market runs through the summer on Saturdays from the first week of May through the last week of October, and it also keeps a winter season with indoor dates at the 5th Street Gym. The market's own emphasis stays clear: support local producers, then browse a mix that includes produce, baked goods, and other small-scale vendor offerings.
The clearest throughline here is a local-producer market with a noticeable bakery presence in its published vendor stories, alongside produce and other entrepreneur-made goods. One visitor summed up the range as bakery bread, locally roasted coffee, and local produce, which fits the market's mix of farm stands and prepared specialties.
The market also sponsors activities around shopping days, including community yoga, children's activities, musical performances, nonprofit outreach, Pollinator Day, Brookings Bonanza, a welcoming celebration, and a Fall Classic.
No dogs and no restrooms are the two practical details most likely to shape your visit. In summer, the market meets on the 300 block of 6th Ave, specifically the street between the Brookings Library and County Courthouse, which makes the library, courthouse, and nearby Children's Museum of South Dakota useful landmarks when you're heading in. The market's winter season shifts indoors to the 5th Street Gym at 606 5th St., with first- and third-Saturday dates from mid-November through April rather than the full weekly summer rhythm. Payment methods are clearly posted by the market, which helps if you're deciding how to pay before you arrive.
Free community yoga, children's activities, and live music are occasionally offered. The market will occasionally close early due to weather or vendors selling out of products.

It's small, but it's everything a farmers market should be. If you're looking for delicious bakery bread, locally roasted coffee, or reasonably priced local produce, the Brookings Farmers Market is the place to go!
Our local farmers market is an event in itself! Always has an excellent assortment of local entrepreneurs, varying from organic vegetables, farm raised meats, baked delicacies and even hand made embroidery and jewelry. All are knowledgeable on their trades and products and attempt to inform and educate customers The organizers always strive to maintain a safe environment and an ambiant, family friendly atmosphere. They have been innovative and setting examples dealing with present community threats. My family and I attempt to go every week.
Great market. Fresh vegetables and meat from local farmers. Fresh made Coffee, pastry, fresh loaves of bread and locally sourced honey. Delicious homemade Sauerkraut and pickles.. When you buy products from these producers, you are supporting local families and keeping money in the local economy. Not to mention that the quality of products is unmatched by corporate chains. Support local. Buy local. Because once these small businesses and small towns go away, they aren't ever coming back. They need your support. This is true American culture.
Really enjoyed walking thru and looking at everything that was there, really enjoying this honey and goats milk lotion I got!
Wonderful locally grown and organic selections of veggies, fruits, canned goods, etc... Awesome place to enjoy a nice day in front of the historic Brookings court house. Also next to the library, Children's museum, and Brookings Art Center. No better place to spend a sunny and relaxing afternoon in Brookings.
