Anderson County Farmers Market pairs a county-run mission of serving residents, workers, and visitors with a market setup designed for regular shopping, not just occasional browsing. The market operates under Anderson County’s parks system and uses a 7,670-square-foot shelter with 36 rentable spaces, giving it a more built-out footprint than a pop-up lot market. At 402 N. Murray Ave., it adds a practical stop near Downtown Anderson and the County Library main branch, with a schedule that spreads shopping across midweek and Saturday visits. That structure shapes the experience here: a public market with county backing, fixed infrastructure, and rules that keep the emphasis on Anderson County-grown products.
The market’s clearest local rule is also its strongest local commitment: products grown outside Anderson County are not allowed unless the market manager grants a waiver. That policy keeps the market tied directly to county agriculture rather than treating “local” as a loose theme.
Its county role matters too. Anderson County frames its work as service to residents, workers, and visitors, and the farmers market sits inside that public-service mission rather than apart from it. The market’s physical setup reinforces that long-term investment, with a 7,670-square-foot shelter and 36 spaces available for rent by day or by month. In practical terms, that means growers have a defined place to sell within Anderson, and shoppers have a dedicated county market site instead of a temporary curbside arrangement.
What stands out here is less a named-vendor roster than the market’s infrastructure for farm selling. The county describes a sizable covered shelter with designated spaces and a rule set centered on Anderson County-grown products, so the emphasis is on agricultural producers using a formal market facility.
No dogs are allowed, which is the biggest visit-planning detail to know before heading to the market. Parking is another straightforward point: the shelter rental notes specify ample free parking, and restrooms are available on site, so the basics are handled for a routine produce run or a longer stop.
If you are shopping regularly, the three-day weekly schedule matters. Tuesday and Thursday hours run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., while Saturday hours run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the main season listed from May through November. The market’s address is 402 N. Murray Ave., placing it in an Anderson setting near Downtown Anderson and the County Library main branch. For direct market questions, the listed phone number is (864) 231-7275.
The market accepts WIC vouchers, senior vouchers, EBT, and SNAP benefits, with redemption handled through the market manager. Gift certificates are also available in $5 increments, adding another payment option beyond standard at-the-stall purchases. That combination makes this a practical market for shoppers using nutrition benefits as well as cash-style certificates.
The market shelter rental notes include ample free parking.
The market shelter is a covered outdoor venue. The shelter includes a small kitchen and restrooms and offers ample free parking. The shelter has 36 spaces available to be rented at $10 per day, and the entire month can be reserved at $5 per day (monthly fee paid in advance).

Originally built for the Anderson Petroleum Company in the 1930s. It was renovated in 2005 to become the Farmer's Market.
The market has been growing quit well for the 3 years that my wife & I have been going to the market. Locally produced products, pleasant live music, assembled in an open air facility. Vendors are friendly and helpful and we enjoy buying our food and other products I expect it will not be long before they reach maximum capacity of vendors.
Anderson Farmers market has a little of everything every time I go! Everybody is friendly and quality produce and products!
