Farmers Market
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
15
8229 Germantown Avenue is home to Market at the Fareway, a year-round food market in Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill with roots as the former Chestnut Hill Farmer’s Market. The current market pairs a refurbished space with Chestnut Hill’s historic feel and centers its mix on prepared food, specialty vendors, and personalized service rather than a produce-only setup. With about 15 vendors and plenty of indoor seating, it reads as a place where you can shop for dinner, pick up coffee, or stay to eat in the same visit.
The vendor mix leans heavily toward prepared food and specialty counters, with cuisines and formats that range from deli sandwiches to sushi, dumplings, barbecue, and baked goods. It is less a single-style farmers market than a compact indoor food hall with market vendors, coffee, and seats to linger over a meal.
Free parking is available in a lot off East Southampton Avenue, and there is also 15-minute pop-in parking for quicker stops. The market is set up to support lingering as well as errands, with benches, oversized colorful armchairs, and plenty of indoor seats for eating or taking a break. Dogs are welcome, and the market provides a bike rack plus two hook-ups and water bowls for dogs, which makes a short stop with a pet more workable than at many indoor food markets. Restrooms are not available, so plan accordingly before settling in. Clear payment methods are noted on site materials, and many vendors operate on Wednesdays and Sundays even when the market does not list full standard hours for every stall.

I visit this place frequently and have purchased food from all of the vendors inside. I particularly love the Tibetan Momos, the spring roles from the Vietnamese place, and the homemade vegan spot. They also have local meat stands, a coffee shop, a popular pizza place, and fresh produce. Love everyone who works here!
This place was wonderful! We each got the story of food we wanted, I got pastrami on rye, my wife got a Korean taco. Sitting outside with our dogs under the table.. we just really enjoyed ourselves
Hidden Treasure in Chestnut Hill - KP’s Fine Meats - hand cut. Lovingly smoked Southern Flames BBQ (check out the rib tips). Neidermyers amazingly fresh poultry that makes it hard to buy chicken anywhere else. Curated wonderments at Liberty Foods. (Not to mention grab and go momos, Pho, Korean and authentic Indian food.) and brew pub.
The brewery here is great. The staff are happy and it rubs off. They put me in a great mood every time I come here. The food is good. It's pizza and other cool dishes like roasted cauliflower. Wide range of beer and wine and harder stuff like whiskey. There's the outdoor garden or the inside with a bar and booths.
Between the Lavender Lemonade from Poppy’s Cafe. The sticky bun from Barry’s Buns. And some beef and chicken dumplings from Momo I barely had the forethought to snap a picture. lol All the food is phenomenal and the space is welcoming. That’s just a comfortable, wondering air about the place for me that I cannot compare to anywhere.
