Farmers Market
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
At 1000 Strites Road, Strite's Orchard Farm Market and Bakery ties a working farm setting to a long Harrisburg-area farming history that reaches back to 1843. The orchard traces its family legacy through Joseph C. Strite’s first fruit trees and vegetables in 1914 and later expansion to more than 250 acres with Earl Strite. Today, the market centers that farm identity in a practical way: bakery orders, local dairy, orchard honey, seasonal produce updates, and U-Pick scheduling all live side by side. That mix gives the place the feel of a farm market built around what is coming in from the season rather than a one-day pop-up.
The strongest throughline here is farm-linked staples you can plan around ahead of time, especially orders and pickup. The lineup is compact but specific, with products tied directly to the orchard’s own operation and a few clearly named local goods.
Seasonal planning is part of the visit. The market posts updates on U-Pick schedules and on seasonal produce that has just come in, which makes timing matter if you are coming for a particular crop or farm activity. The clearest thread here is agritourism shaped by the farm calendar rather than by a fixed event slate. Strite’s emphasizes updates on “the freshest of the season,” seasonal produce arrivals, and U-Pick scheduling, all framed as reasons to plan a return visit around what is happening in the orchard at that moment. That same seasonal rhythm carries into the store side of the business: honey is described through the bees’ role in pollinating the orchard, and the market pairs farm goods with order-ahead pickup and curbside options instead of separating the production side from the shopping side. The result is a place where the orchard itself remains the central reference point, whether you are watching for produce, tracking U-Pick timing, or picking up foods connected directly to what the farm grows and maintains.
No dogs are allowed, so that is the first detail to account for when planning a stop. The market’s posted weekly hours are broad compared with a typical single-morning farmers market: Monday through Friday 8am to 7pm, Saturday 8am to 5pm, and Sunday 11am to 4pm. Orders are part of how this place works. Bakery purchases can be scheduled for a specific pickup date and time, and orchard honey is also available through online ordering with pickup or curbside service. If you are coming for Apple Valley Creamery milk, factor in the $2 refundable bottle deposit noted for those products. For seasonal produce and U-Pick timing, the market directs shoppers to follow its updates so visits can line up with what is currently in season.
Produce is seasonal and freshly picked; the site advises calling to ensure availability. The CSA FAQ notes produce is harvested, washed (if applicable), packed, and delivered to pickup locations within 48 hours.

The best strawberry rhubarb pie I've had so far! Plus great produce and fresh honey (with bees on site) and a fun quick stop for the corn maze, apples, and sunflowers.
This was my first visit and won’t be the last. It was easy to find, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Seen a bird flying back and forth over a corn pile, very grounding moment. The staff were very friendly, and helpful. The parking lot is spacious!
Great place, Great Pies, and very nice people. They were out of fresh Strawberry Pies, and she said I can make you one right now. She grabbed a quart of Fresh Strawberries and made me a fresh pie. Always a nice experience when I go there. Their pies are so good..
Came here in July to pick raspberries. Quite enjoyable. We purchased three empty pints for $15 at the Strites market & drove about 3/4 mi to the black raspberry patch to pick (&fill our pints). We all enjoyed it! The staff was very friendly and helpful. In addition we purchased fresh plums, sticky buns, pretzels and berch beer. Definitely a nice experience!
I really like this local orchard. It had nice vegetables and fruits. Fresh, flavorful, and priced very reasonable. Very wide variety of items for all the seasons. Great cider as well when it is time. Also fresh honey is available here and some baked goods. If you are around the area, stop in, I'm sure you will find something that you will like.
