Rochester, New York
City of Rochester Public Market has served Rochester since 1905 and operates year-round at 280 North Union Street. The market’s setup stands out for its three covered outdoor vendor sheds plus a fully indoor shed, a layout that supports shopping across the seasons. The site also includes an array of independent local businesses, cafés, food stands, coffee shops, specialty shops, and services tied into the market district. That long history and built-in covered space make this one of Rochester’s most established regular market stops, with a footprint shaped for repeat weekly visits rather than a short seasonal run.
Three covered outdoor sheds and one fully indoor shed shape the shopping mix here, with food and specialty buying happening alongside small businesses in the surrounding market district. The emphasis is less on a single product niche than on a broad, permanent market campus that pairs vendor space with cafés, coffee shops, food stands, specialty shops, and services.
No dogs are allowed at City of Rochester Public Market, a policy that may shape how you plan a weekend stop. Restrooms are not available in the visit details provided for the market, so it helps to plan your timing before arriving. The market is located at 280 North Union Street in Rochester, which is the key address detail to use for navigation. Because the market runs year-round and includes three covered outdoor sheds plus a fully indoor shed, the physical setup offers both open-air and enclosed shopping areas on site. Payment methods are presented clearly by the market, which makes it easier to plan purchases once you arrive.
SNAP EBT is accepted at City of Rochester Public Market. The market also indicates payment methods clearly in its visitor details, which helps shoppers sort out how they want to pay before heading to North Union Street. For SNAP users, the key takeaway is straightforward: EBT is part of the market’s payment picture year-round.

I love the market. Every Saturday morning, my BFF and I are there. Two bags in hand, and I always leave with loads of fresh produce, salmon, meat, and baked goods. Sometimes even gifts for myself and others. I also enjoy socializing with my favorite vendors. It's a pleasant way to start the weekend, even when it's snowy and cold. Our market is the real gem of Rochester.
One of my favorite places to soak in Rochester culture. Great prices on fresh produce from local farmers, cool artisan works and unique items, and delicious foods from around the world. Fiorella's makes a delicious frittata (ask for it with a side of Italian bread). The parking situation can be rough. You may have to park a ways out but there's often a trolley that buses people from the distant lot to the Market and back.
Love this farmers market. Never know what you're going to find. We came home with a lot of different fruits. All very reasonably priced. Enjoyed a couple of pastries from the inside vendor. It was a lovely day to walk around the market. Went back on Sunday for their flower market. They had a great variety of flowers, vegetables, and herb plants.
One of my favorite places to go with my family! Great deals best boiled peanuts and ranch pickles! Always leave with so much good stuff. Truly one of my favorite activities
We try to visit the local market whenever we are travelling and we were pleasantly surprised by the Rochester Public Market. We had our visit on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy. There is limited parking at the market and cars are parked on the streets and in parking lots surrounding it. The produce was abundant and delicious. 🫑🌶️🍒🍅🥬🍓 There were spices, honey, jewellery and a variety of prepared foods.
