Farmers Market
Kingston, New York
Kingston Farmers' Market frames itself around more than weekly shopping, with programming that includes the Power of Produce Club, Market Greens, community groups, sponsors, and a mission-and-staff structure alongside its vendor roster. Founded in 2000 by the Kingston Uptown Business Association, the market began as a way to draw people to Uptown Kingston on Saturdays and has since defined its role around shopping, conversation, and learning in Kingston. That mission shows up in a winter market format on Wall Street in Uptown Kingston, where the seasonal schedule keeps food access and local farm commerce active through the colder months.
Founded in 2000 by the Kingston Uptown Business Association, Kingston Farmers' Market was created to bring people to Uptown Kingston on Saturdays. Its stated goals go beyond sales: the market says it supports the community socially, physically, and economically, maintains a balance of fresh produce and related products from the Mid-Hudson region, and helps sustain regional family farms by providing a local farm market outlet.
That local role is reinforced by the programs attached to the market itself. The market runs Food Access and Currency Guide information that includes SNAP/EBT, Fresh Connect Checks, FMNP Checks, Power of Produce bucks for kids, and Market Greens. In practice, that means the market is set up not just for direct farm purchasing, but for broader access to fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, poultry, and other grocery items through participating vendors.
The winter mix leans wide rather than narrow, with certified organic vegetables, orchard fruit, meats, seafood, bread, pastries, pantry staples, prepared foods, and a few non-food stands all represented in one market. Kingston-based businesses appear throughout the lineup, so the selection includes both Mid-Hudson farm goods and prepared foods made in or around the city.
Past events have included a Pie Dough Workshop with Little Rye Bakehouse at Old Dutch Church and an Autumn Clothing Swap with Trans Closet.
No dogs are allowed at the market. For winter market visits, head to Old Dutch Church at 272 Wall St in Kingston. The listed entrances are on John Street, between Crown and Wall, and on Wall Street, between Main and John, which matters if you're walking up from a side street or trying to meet someone at the door.
If you're driving, the market also lists the outdoor market location as the County Courthouse parking lot at 285 Wall Street. Restrooms are not available on site. With the winter schedule centered on Saturdays and a compact four-hour window, arriving with your location and entrance in mind will make the visit more straightforward.
The market accepts SNAP/EBT, Fresh Connect Checks, FMNP Checks, Power of Produce bucks for kids, and Market Greens. SNAP benefits are redeemed at the market tent from 9am to 1pm and can be used with vendors for items including fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, poultry, and other grocery staples.
Outdoor Market location: County Courthouse parking lot 285 Wall Street, Kingston, NY 12401. Indoor Winter Market location: Old Dutch Church 272 Wall St, Kingston, NY 12401. Entrances on John St (between Crown & Wall) and Wall St (between Main and John).
Market tent redemption for SNAP/EBT is between 9AM–1PM. Market Greens is a $5 paper check currency accepted year-round at all vendors except alcohol (no change given).

Fantastic farmers' market, better than the one at USQ. Organic produce for cheaper than USQ (b/c of the shorter trip from the farm?), Little Rye Bakeshop, Chase Holm Cheese, Kingston Bread & Bakery, Rondout Roasting Co. (I appreciated the offer of free coffee), etc. ... I'll definitely plan to visit Kingston on a Saturday again to stop by!
The Kingston Farmers market is a weekly pilgrimage for me--the local food movement is a big part of living in the Hudson Valley, and it's really awesome to support your neighbors and meet the people who are producing the things that you eat or making the goods you use. It's really nice to see a very diverse range of people there, and there is usually live music there each week too.
This is a great farmer's market in a great location. Vendors are spread out nicely, there is an awesome selection of fruits, veggies, alcohol, homemade foods, breads, seafood, flowers and more. The vibe is pretty chill, and I'd definitely go every weekend if I lived locally!
Fruits, veggies, meats, and more. They had an area in the middle with some live music and many people from town came out to enjoy the festivities. It apparently happens every Saturday in season. We picked up some supplies for our weekend and I enjoyed my cider donut while we walked around. It is not huge, but they have everything that you expect from a classic farmers market. I was impressed how clean and organized many of the vendors were.
Such a great farmers market! They have soft live music, tons of variety with so many vendors and it's amazing to see so many people out with their pups! 🥰🐕 Highly recommended! Thanks to the fisherie for trying to give my dog a sample of sushi grade scallops! 😋
