Hempstead, New York
YALE Farmers Market stands out for its connection to a Nassau County organization focused on families and early childhood educators, with a mission centered on supporting children’s growth and development. That link gives the market a distinctive local context in Hempstead: it sits alongside a broader effort to help families navigate child care, training, and early education resources in the county. The market’s June-to-September season and SNAP access make it a practical stop during the warmer months, especially for shoppers looking for a market tied to a family-serving nonprofit mission rather than a purely retail setting.
The organization behind YALE Farmers Market has been supporting families and strengthening child care in Nassau County since 1972, giving the market a place within a long-running countywide network of family services. Its stated mission emphasizes empowering families and early childhood educators, not just offering a one-time event or seasonal attraction. That matters in Hempstead because the same organization also provides free assistance to help families find quality child care in Nassau County, tying everyday needs like food access and family support to the same local institution.
The market also sits within a web of regional partnerships that includes United Way of Long Island, the New York State Department of Health, Nassau County Department of Social Services, and the Early Care & Learning Council. Those connections reinforce that this is part of a broader county infrastructure serving children and caregivers.
This market is defined more by its family-service setting than by a published vendor roster. The strongest documented picture is a market connected to a child- and family-focused nonprofit, with nearby programming and institutions that emphasize parents, children, and community events.
No dogs are allowed, and restrooms are not available, two details that can change how you plan a stop at 160 Baldwin Rd in Hempstead. The market runs on a seasonal schedule from June through September rather than year-round, so summer and early fall are the window to catch it. Payment methods are clearly identified on-site, which helps if you want to decide quickly between card, cash, or benefits use when you arrive.
The address places the market in Hempstead at 160 Baldwin Rd. If you are combining errands, it helps to think of YALE Farmers Market as part of a larger family-oriented nonprofit setting rather than a standalone market district, since the organization’s work centers on child care assistance, training, and family support across Nassau County.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at YALE Farmers Market, an important detail for shoppers planning to use nutrition benefits. Payment methods are also clearly indicated, which adds a little predictability before you get to the stand or checkout area. Combined with the market’s family-focused setting, that makes the market easier to work into regular household shopping during its June-to-September run.

Plenty of parking and dog friendly. Food and produce vendors with unique products. In addition to gorgeous peaches and several apple varieties, I bought locally sourced varietal honeys with different flavors I never tasted before (one from some kind of Japanese flowers), and freshly cut cheeses.
Lots of vendors selling quality baked goods, coffee, teas, cheeses, honey, jams, vegan food options, natural skin care products and more. I went for the first time in September and definitely plan on going back. There is something for everyone. It's outdoors with plenty of parking in the lot as well as some street parking.
I love going to the RVC Farmers Market. Shopping with my dog, meeting my neighbors. Great goat cheese, Orwashers bread, Polka Dot Pound Cake raspberry filled couisants, fresh flowers, fresh fish and seafood and of course if I still have room in my bags some great fruits and vegetables.
Best farmers market around! Some vendors run out early because you cant find anything like it in town. Market runs from memorial day until thanksgiving which kind of stinks. Wish they were year round! I highly recommend you check out this market if you are looking for peservative free, organic food options.
