Farmers Market
Brooklyn, New York
Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket sits at Flatbush & Propsect Park W in Brooklyn and operates within GrowNYC’s broader nonprofit work in education, food access, farming, and green spaces. That pairing gives this market a clear civic frame: it is a place to shop for farm-based goods, but it is also part of an organization built around public access to food and environmental programs. In Brooklyn, the setting at Grand Army Plaza places the market at a highly recognizable crossroads beside Prospect Park, making it a practical stop for neighborhood shopping as well as a regular part of weekend routines.
GrowNYC runs Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket as part of a network focused on bringing fresh food from small regional farms into New York City. The organization describes its Greenmarkets as operating under strict producer-only standards, meaning farmers and food businesses sell farm-based products they grow or make themselves. That matters at Grand Army Plaza because the market is not framed as a general resale market; it is tied to GrowNYC’s food access and farming mission, with donations supporting work in education, food access, farming, and green spaces. The year-round schedule also gives Brooklyn shoppers a consistent place to buy directly from that system across all twelve months.
Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket is defined here more by its producer-only standard and GrowNYC mission than by a published vendor roster. The clearest expectation is direct-from-farm, farm-based selling rather than broad retail mixing.
GrowNYC’s calendar also points to the seasonal food themes that shape shopping across its markets, including maple season, holiday wreaths and Christmas trees, turkey buying, and SNAP-focused updates.
No dogs are allowed, which is the most immediate policy detail likely to change a visit plan. Restrooms are not available on-site, so longer shopping trips are easier to plan around before arriving. The market is located at Flatbush & Propsect Park W at Grand Army Plaza, a prominent Brooklyn junction beside Prospect Park rather than an enclosed facility, so expect an outdoor setup integrated into the plaza setting. Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket runs year-round, making it a consistent option instead of a short seasonal market. Payment methods are clearly posted at the market, which helps when planning how to shop across different farm stands.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket. That fits GrowNYC’s larger food-access work, which includes Greenmarket SNAP updates and resources as well as benefit-focused programming tied to fresh food access. Payment methods are clearly communicated on-site, giving shoppers a straightforward way to plan purchases across the market.

This has to be the best farmers market in all of Brooklyn, maybe even New York City and state. All the local produce is so fresh and seasonal and yummy. The lovely man who sells alpaca eggs has limited supply so you have to come early to get them. These are the blue shelled alpacas. Theres also a great dairy stand with nice kefir. The Apple selection here also. Amazing. My fave is the ludacrisp

The atmosphere is energetic and welcoming, making it a great place to shop, explore, and enjoy the community.
I go here every Saturday in the summer!! I always stock up on organic fresh fruit and veggies and sometimes bread. It's a bit crowded and a little difficult to get to by bike or by car. Sometimes I take a Lyft, sometimes bike, but walking is the easiest even though I have to carry a lot of heavy produce on my back and in my arms.
Large farmer’s market with everything you would want. Plus, they have way more than just produce. Lots of vendors selling jewelry, unique items, and prepared foods. I really enjoyed my morning at this market.
