Farmers Market
Sparta, New Jersey
65 Main Street is the home of Sparta Farmers Market, where the emphasis stays on fresh local produce, organic food, meat, cheese, and weekly baked and prepared goods from small family farms in the region. The market’s own description centers flavor, with shoppers able to pick up everything from vegetables and fruits to a morning pastry or a pasture-raised steak in one stop. That mix gives the market a clear shape: farm-forward staples, animal proteins, and ready-to-eat foods sharing the same lineup rather than separate specialty stops.
Certified organic produce, pasture-raised meats, breads, cheeses, and prepared foods define the core of Sparta’s vendor mix, with farms from Sussex County and nearby towns strongly represented. The result is a market where a produce run can easily turn into a full grocery stop, with proteins, pantry items, and prepared foods all in the same pass.
Music is part of the regular season as well, with a posted schedule running from early May into October and performers including Jimmy Lee, Maribyrd, Mingo Lodge, Richard Meier, Maria German, Dani Zanoni, and Jake Roggenkamp.
No dogs are allowed, which is one of the clearest visit rules to keep in mind before heading over. The market runs seasonally from May through November rather than year-round, so timing matters if you are planning a produce or meat run around specific vendors. Restrooms are not available on site, another practical detail that may shape a longer visit. One visitor also noted easy parking, which can make a quick stop for produce, juices, or prepared foods more straightforward on a busy morning.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Sparta Farmers Market, making the market accessible for shoppers planning to use nutrition benefits on their visit. Payment methods are presented clearly through the market’s own visitor information, which helps when you are deciding how to shop across produce, meats, cheeses, and prepared foods.
A 2026 music schedule is listed on the website.

always enjoy. Great prices, beautiful produce, absolutely live the vendor with fresh juices, our favorite is the minted honeydew. there are food vendors, pickle vendors, quite a few more. Really e joy visiting there!
A nice mix of fresh produce, coffee, prepared foods, meats, gifts and flowers. They will usually have some cheeses, juices and food prepared on site as well as pizza. The parking is easy and there's always something new to try.
My favorite part of living in this area. Vendors are friendly and offer a variety of fresh produce. There’s baked goods; Emily’s Hearth is a traveling brick oven with delicious breads, crackers and craft pizzas & River North which has a great selection of GF bagels featuring local specialties incorporated into their weekly goods. Foraged Feast has gourmet foraged and farmed mushrooms. There’s usually live music playing and lots of furry friends. Great place for a family morning & kids to get out. I try to stop by as often as I can.
Good selection of cheese vendors, Greek food. Produce and so much more. Bought a few meals there, great farm cheese pierogies and stuff cabbage. Beautiful pottery studio Rimi Studios with lots of useful pottery.
Denville outdoor market is better. They have tables in the middle of the market & the veggies are way better. Some of the vendors have at least 2 people working but only one helps the sale & the other just takes the money. You won't lose customers that way.
