Farmers Market
Kansas City, Missouri
Northeast Farmers' Market brings a Thursday evening market to Kansas City from May through October, with a 4pm to 7pm window that fits an after-work stop. The vendor mix leans practical and food-focused: multiple farms selling vegetables and eggs, prepared tamales, breads and sweets, coffee, honey, beef, and even Northeast-themed T-shirts. SNAP is accepted, and the market has also participated in Double Up Food Bucks KC, which adds another layer of day-to-day usefulness for shoppers planning a produce run. One visitor described it as a good stop on the way home from work, with a good selection and friendly vendors.
Vegetables and eggs show up again and again here, but the market is not limited to produce tables. The lineup also includes prepared foods, pantry staples, coffee, baked goods, meat, transplants, and a few neighborhood-specific extras, giving the market a mix that works for both dinner ingredients and small take-home finds.
No dogs are allowed, and restrooms are not available, two details that can change how long you plan to stay and who comes with you. The market runs on Thursdays from 4pm to 7pm between May and October, so it is set up as a weekly evening stop rather than a weekend market. Payment information is clearly posted by the market, which helps if you are planning around different vendors and transaction types. One visitor noted that the market works well as a stop on the way home from work, a useful cue for timing rather than a destination that requires a full morning.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Northeast Farmers' Market. The market has also participated in Double Up Food Bucks KC, allowing shoppers who receive SNAP benefits to double their SNAP dollars through that program. Payment methods are presented clearly on site, which can make it easier to plan purchases across produce, prepared foods, and pantry items.
Kids activity tent is mentioned; live music and juggling are mentioned for the 2016 season. SNAP/EBT customers can double benefits via Double Up Food Bucks KC (up to $25/week).
