Farmers Market
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Fulton Farmers Market is part of Neighborhood Roots, an independent nonprofit that has operated since 2008 and built its markets around fruits and vegetables, prepared foods, coffee, handmade crafts, and more. In Minneapolis, that gives this market a mission-driven frame rather than a simple weekly retail stop. The market also sits within a broader Neighborhood Roots network that includes other named markets and a winter market season, so Fulton connects to a larger local-food calendar instead of standing alone. For shoppers, that usually means a market shaped by ongoing programming, seasonal continuity, and regular communication through weekly market newsletters during the outdoor season.
Neighborhood Roots ties Fulton Farmers Market to a Minneapolis-based nonprofit structure that has been active since 2008, giving the market a defined local-food mission anchored in the city rather than a one-off seasonal operation. The organization’s calendar and newsletters show an ongoing pattern of market-specific updates from May through October, including vendor lineups, activities, live music, recipes, and upcoming events. That kind of regular communication helps turn a market visit into part of a neighborhood routine.
Fulton also belongs to a network that includes Nokomis Farmers Market Wednesdays and Winter Market season programming, which places it inside a wider set of Minneapolis market relationships managed by the same organization. Even the sponsor and partner roster points to recognizable local connections, from Nicollet ACE Hardware to Pepperwild.
The strongest through-line here is a mixed market built around farm products and ready-to-eat additions, with room for drinks and handmade goods rather than a produce-only setup. Neighborhood Roots also highlights weekly vendor lineups during the main season, suggesting the mix can shift from one market date to the next.
Weekly newsletters during May through October feature vendor lineups, activities, live music, recipes, and upcoming events tied to market days.
No dogs is the clearest planning detail to keep in mind before heading to Fulton Farmers Market. The market is held at 4901 Chowen Ave. S. in Minneapolis, giving you a precise south Minneapolis destination to plug in before you leave. Restrooms are not available, which is another practical point worth factoring into your timing.
This market runs during the outdoor season from May to October, while Neighborhood Roots also operates a separate Winter Market season indoors at Bachman’s Floral, Gift, and Garden. If you like knowing the weekly lineup before arriving, Neighborhood Roots sends market-specific newsletters two to three days before market day during the main season, covering vendors, activities, live music, recipes, and upcoming events. Vendor applications also note high demand and limited space, which helps explain why the market mix is curated and capacity matters.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Fulton Farmers Market, an important detail for shoppers planning to use nutrition benefits. Payment methods are presented clearly, which makes it easier to sort out how you want to pay before you start shopping. Neighborhood Roots also keeps up regular market communications during the season, so shoppers can track weekly details alongside payment planning.
No dogs are allowed in the market area except for trained service animals.

The Southwest Farmers Market is a nice market. Not mt favorite but certainly not my least favorite. There is parking available across the street in a small parking lot. The market itself has a good selection of vendors from produce, to baked goods, to coffee. Live music sets a nice vibe as well. Overall it’s a good local market.
Loving the new Southwest Farmers’ Market! This new location replaces the old Fulton site, and the upgrade is fantastic. Mt. Olivet is a beautiful venue with a spacious parking lot, great visibility, and plenty of customer parking—such a big improvement! There’s only been one market so far, and even on a cold, cloudy day, the turnout was incredible. I can’t wait to experience it on a warm, sunny summer day with an abundance of fresh, local produce. This market is off to a great start! Also worth noting that it is a lot easier to get to and park at this market than most of the other large...
This is our neighborhood farmers market and I love it. There were carrots and kale and beans and strawberries this morning as well as Momos and hummus and baked goods. This is just a sampling of what was on offer. And they are all local vendors, not resalers. I try to go every Saturday I'm in town to support the market and I've never come away with an empty bag.
Great market with high quality vendors and especially great produce. Top notch edition to the neighborhood. My family has been there every weekend this summer and it continues to impress!
Great farmers market! Small, but mighty! Lots of inexpensive fresh produce, tasty coffee, and I got some new kombucha flavors to try! I will definitely be back to see what vendors I missed last time ☺️
