Farmers Market
Wakefield, Massachusetts
A mission-driven, woman-owned food business appears in the Wakefield Farmer's Market lineup, a clue to the market's broader emphasis on giving local food makers a place to sell alongside farm staples and prepared foods. At Hall Park in Wakefield, the market brings together produce farms, mushroom growers, meat and seafood vendors, bakers, beverage makers, and a smaller craft contingent in one weekly stop. The mix ranges from longtime produce sellers like Kelly's Farm to specialty vendors such as Blackeyed Susan Sheep Dairy and Boston Smoked Fish Company, so a visit can cover both dinner shopping and a few pantry extras.
Produce anchors the market, but the vendor mix stretches well beyond vegetables into sheep milk dairy, smoked fish, hearth breads, kombucha, maple products, and practical household goods. The result is a market where a grocery run can easily turn into lunch, dessert, and a few nonfood finds in the same pass.
No dogs are allowed at the market, which is one of the clearest visit-planning rules to know before you head to Hall Park. Parking is spread across several nearby lots rather than concentrated in one place: Veterans Field Parking sits between Veterans Field and the market, while Lakeside Avenue and the Light Department employee lot are each about 0.2 miles away. Town Hall at 1 Lafayette Street, Common Street customer spaces, spots in front of First Baptist and Artichokes, North Avenue parking from Albion Street to Church Street, and spaces near the bandstand along the common are all additional options. Avoid parking along the railroad-track side of North Avenue, where drivers may receive a $2 bill from the T because the town does not own those spaces. The market is invitation only for vendors.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Wakefield Farmer's Market. Individual vendors also signal a range of buying options, including preorders for pickup from Lilac Hedge Farm and advance seafood ordering through Roberto's Seafood. That setup makes the market workable for both same-day browsing and more planned shopping.
Veterans Field Parking (U-shaped lot between Veterans field and the Market); Lakeside Avenue lot (0.2 miles, ~3 minute walk); Light Department employee lot (0.2 miles, ~3 minute walk); Town Hall lot at 1 Lafayette Street (0.4 miles, ~7 minute walk); Common St 4-hour customer spaces and spaces in front of First Baptist and Artichokes (0.4 miles, ~7 minute walk); North Ave parking from Albion St to Church St (0.4 miles, ~8 minute walk); near the bandstand spaces along the common (0.5 miles, ~8 minute walk). Distances/times are approximate; parking along the railroad track side of North Ave may result in a $2 bill from the T (town does not own those spaces).
Weekly live music is hosted and sponsored by The Savings Bank. The market is described as having an amazing location along the shores of Lake Quannapowitt. Vendors are expected to be ready by 9:00 a.m. and stay set up for the full 4 hours each week they attend.

It's not huge but it has everything you need! I got fresh veggies, fresh pasta and sauce, fresh fish, fresh rolls and a fresh dessert. I ended up planning a super nice Saturday night dinner!!! Everything was amazing! I will be going back for sure. If I had to pick one thing for value and quality it would be the fish. You can tell it was truly a fresh catch.
Amazing local market place. Lots of local food and drinks. Some healthy food options too! Must visit if you’re in the area looking to spend time with family just around the lake.
Always love the farmers market. Right now with COVID they are doing a great job with safety. I can't wait until next year when it's (hopefully) back to it's usual glory with live music, balloon animals, chalk, etc. Usually one of my favorite kid friendly activities all summer !
Really cool this week and I meant some pretty awesome people there as well. I bought some wine, Indian garam masala spice and some dog biscuits for my brother's dogs. Hell yeah.
Lots of great local options, both packaged goods and fresh produce, including some great Asian veggies. Everyone here is awesome.
