Farmers Market
Lexington, Massachusetts
Lexington Farmers' Market has operated since 2005, and since 2016 it has been run as a 501(c)4 nonprofit overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors. That long volunteer-backed history gives this market a distinct shape: a weekly summer market from the end of May through the end of October, plus a Thanksgiving FEASTival and a winter market season. In Lexington, the summer market is set at the Worthen Road Practice Field, between the Lexington High School Field House and the baseball diamond. The result is a market with a defined public setting and a year that extends beyond a single summer run.
The producer-only standard is one of the clearest reasons this market matters in Lexington: it states that it strives to ensure products sold by its farmers, vendors, and artisans are locally produced. That policy shapes what you encounter at the Worthen Road Practice Field, where the market is operated weekly onsite by Market Manager Drew Maggiore and overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Its local role is also visible in how the organization has expanded over time. What began in 2005 with three committed local residents now includes the weekly summer farmers' market, a Thanksgiving FEASTival held the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and a winter market season. The market also works alongside Lexington departments and food access programs including SNAP, the Healthy Incentives Program, WIC, and FMNP Coupons.
The vendor mix here runs from farm produce and pasture-raised meats to seafood, breads, condiments, sweets, and a few nonfood makers. It is a broad roster, but it still reads as producer-led, with farms, prepared-food specialists, and artisans each named for specific products.
No dogs are allowed, which is the detail most likely to change a visit plan if you usually bring a pet along. For parking, the market directs drivers to Worthen Road and to the area by the Center Playground off Park Drive and Clarke Street. If you need accessible parking, there are two ADA spaces on Worthen Road just after the access road entrance near the baseball field backstop, plus three designated wheelchair-accessible spots at the bottom of the access road closer to the playground.
For wayfinding, the summer market is on the Worthen Road Practice Field, between the Lexington High School Field House and the baseball diamond within the Town of Lexington Recreation Complex. Restrooms are not available.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Lexington Farmers' Market. The market also references the Healthy Incentives Program, WIC, and FMNP Coupons among its food access options. Individual vendors may also participate directly in those programs, including Freedom Food Farm, which states that it accepts SNAP, HIP, and WIC benefits at farmers' markets.
Parking is available on Worthen Road and by the Center Playground off of Park Drive and Clarke Street. ADA Accessible Parking: Two ADA spaces are available on Worthen Road immediately after the access road entrance near the baseball field backstop, and three designated ADA wheelchair accessible spots are at the bottom of the access road closer to the playground.
No pets allowed in the market space; service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome. The market is rain or shine and generally does not close unless there is a public safety emergency, torrential rain, or high winds.
