Farmers Market
Destrehan, Louisiana
Ormond Plantation at 13786 River Road sets the scene for the East Bank edition of the German Coast Farmers' Market in Destrehan. This is a year-round Saturday market with a mix that leans distinctly South Louisiana: fresh produce and eggs sit alongside shrimp, crabmeat, hot tamales, crawfish bisque, kettle corn, candles, and handmade accessories. One visitor summed up that range as “local fresh produce” plus “prepared food and seafood,” and singled out the hot tamale booth.
The vendor mix spans practical market staples and ready-to-eat regional dishes, with pantry goods, baked items, seafood, produce, and a smaller craft lineup sharing the same Saturday footprint. The result is a market where a produce stop can easily turn into a breakfast or lunch pickup.
The market calendar also lists special guests and performances, including the Ryan School of Irish Dancers, Robbie Matherne, an Easter Bunny visit, a cooking demo by Gerald “Pitt master Papi” Vinnett, Gary Brown, Kevin Gullage, and the Destrehan High School Art Club.
No dogs are allowed, which is one of the clearest visit-planning details for this market. The East Bank market runs on Saturday mornings in Destrehan, while the organization also operates a separate Wednesday afternoon market in Luling, so day and location matter when planning your trip. Restrooms are not available on site. One recent visitor highlighted the location and noted that vendors make the trip from the west bank, adding a little more context to the market's cross-river draw.
SNAP benefits are accepted at the German Coast Farmers' Market. The market also indicates that payment methods are clearly presented for shoppers on site. That matters here because the vendor lineup ranges from produce and eggs to seafood, baked goods, pantry items, and prepared foods, so shoppers may be making several different kinds of purchases in one stop.
SNAP benefits are accepted at both market locations; shoppers can bring an EBT card to the Welcome Booth to have it swiped for the amount they would like to spend.

Really cool event which happens every Saturday morning. Great selection of local fresh produce and even prepared food and seafood. I love the hot tamale booth!
Great location and local vendors love to make the trip from the westbank. Here are some peaches I got today making a cobbler.
Bought some very nice T-bone steaks, Honey, tamalas, jambayla, pastalaya, quail eggs, pork rinds & pepper jelly, and so much more at this fun little farmers market. Yummy yummy ❤️ It’s a great family outing my family enjoys attending & supporting our locals on Saturdays.
One of my most favorite adventures! Ask questions to be sure that you are buying local grown direct from the growers. Makes a big difference in quality. I had to wait until the other buyers were finished but worth the wait! The vendors vary and there are more some weeks than others. I'm Dever disappointed. If anyone knows where Fleur de lis, Angela went please post it!! Ty
