Farmers Market
Berea, Kentucky
Berea Farmer's Market ties its food mix to a broader mission: the market says sponsorship support helps it “inspire and nurture a healthy community” by giving mission-aligned nonprofits space at no cost. That civic emphasis sits alongside a clear market identity in Berea: it describes itself as Kentucky’s oldest “Producer Only” market, where farmers sell what they raised and makers sell what they created. The result is a market built around direct sourcing, with fresh local fruits and vegetables, plants, eggs, meats, and handmade goods all anchored to the people bringing them to the tables.
The vendor mix leans heavily into produce and meats, with enough prepared foods, dairy, plants, and handmade goods to make the market feel broader than a produce stop. Because Berea Farmer's Market is producer-only, the range comes from growers, food makers, and artisans selling their own work rather than reselling someone else’s inventory.
The key planning detail here is the market’s producer-only rule: if you are shopping for specific foods or handmade goods, what you find will come directly from the farm or maker at the table, and processed foods must include an ingredient raised by that vendor. The market is located at 416 Chestnut St. in Berea. Dogs are welcome, which can matter if you are building a Saturday stop around errands or a walk. Restrooms are not listed as available in the market details. The vendor roster includes produce, meat, dairy, baked goods, plants, and artisan work, so the market works for both pantry shopping and garden-start pickup in the same trip.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Berea Farmer's Market, and the market says eligible shoppers with an EBT, PEBT, food stamp, senior, or WIC card can receive a dollar-for-dollar match on their purchases. Payment methods are presented clearly in the market’s visitor details, which is useful if you are planning a larger grocery run here.
The market is described as a destination with a welcoming pavilion space; live music is mentioned, and dogs are described as common at the market. Community Spotlight is available for mission-aligned non-profits (free of charge) via a sponsor partnership.

I bought a loaf of persimmon bread from the Oriental woman who is from Mcee. She is an excellent preparer of natural products, and I ate part and saved part. I also tried a Chinese pear and bought one. What a pleasure it is to eat such food. And when I woke up this morning I felt great.
I love the cheese vending and outside a group makes egg croissant sandwiches and they are worth traveling several miles for. Using food stamps is quirky. Pay with cash but bring enough. Meet and eggs are great
Lots of choices. Fruits, vegetables, plants, meat, homemade items....and much more. Even live music and sometimes activities for the kiddos. We love our local Farmer's Market!
Always good variety of local farmers fresh produce and hand made products. The 2 Farmers Meat is the best you will find by far.
Great selection of produce, mushrooms, cheese and the main reason I make the 50 minute drive is for Backwoods Bakery's sour dough bread. It's the best!
