Farmers Market
Lafayette, Indiana
Historic Lafayette Farmers Market ties its weekly downtown run to the Friends of the Market Facebook page, a useful anchor for following what is happening around the market each Saturday. The market sets up on 5th Street in downtown Lafayette, with its footprint described between Main and Ferry Street and Saturday hours running from May through October. That downtown setting gives the market a distinctly street-market layout rather than a parking-lot setup, with blocks of vendors, prepared foods, drinks, and craft makers gathered in the center of Lafayette.
5th Street between Main and Ferry is central to how this market fits Lafayette: it is explicitly a downtown market, operating across two blocks in the city center from May through October. The market’s own materials also point to a historic frame around the district, linking the market with organizations including the Indiana Historical Society and the Tippecanoe County Historical Association. That combination of a downtown street location and historical partners keeps the market tied to Lafayette’s civic core rather than separating it from it.
Its vendor mix also reflects nearby production and small-scale Indiana businesses, from Delphi-made artisan soap to a small farm outside West Lafayette raising grass fed beef, pasture raised pork, and chicken. The result is a market where local food and locally made goods share the same blocks.
The strongest pattern here is variety within a compact downtown setup: staples like farm produce, meats, bread, and pastries sit alongside drinks, prepared foods, plants, pottery, and personal-care goods. That makes the market workable for both grocery shopping and more browse-heavy stops.
No dogs are allowed within the market, which is one of the clearest rules to plan around before heading downtown. Free parking is available at the 5th Street Parking Garage at 18 N 5th Street, a practical option if you are driving in for a Saturday morning shop. The market is also served by CityBus routes 7, 4A, 3, and 6B, giving another straightforward route into the downtown footprint on 5th Street. Bringing your own tote bags fits the setup well, especially with vendors selling produce, bread, pastries, meats, flowers, and drinks across the market blocks.
Credit and cash are both accepted at market vendors, and SNAP/WIC are accepted as well. For shoppers building a produce-and-staples run alongside prepared foods or baked goods, that wider payment range makes the market easier to use week to week.

I always enjoy Lafayette Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning! It’s arranged so conveniently, with a wide array of vendors, music and fresh vegetables! ❤️
Love going here every Saturday. Every item I get is farm fresh and tastes great. This is a fantastic way of supporting local farmers and other vendors. It's very relaxing to walk down the booths while smelling popcorn and listening to live music. Highly recommend planning your weekly grocery shopping here first.
