Original Farmers' Market at Indianapolis City Market is tied to Downtown Indy, Inc., placing this Wednesday market squarely in the civic core of Indianapolis rather than at the edge of town. It runs at 222 E. Market Street, at the Indianapolis City Market, with Monument Circle and the City County Building among the nearby downtown landmarks named alongside the market's setting. The market's identity is closely linked to the City Market Market House and Market House Plaza, giving a short weekly shopping window a distinctly historic downtown frame.
The market is part of the Indianapolis City Market ecosystem, with the Indianapolis City Market Corporation and the Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development named among its partners. That matters because this is not a standalone pop-up in an anonymous lot; it sits inside a downtown public-market setting that connects weekday shopping to Indianapolis institutions and landmarks including the City Market Market House and Historic Monument Circle.
Its public-facing team also reflects that local grounding. Keisha Harrison, Megan Vukusich, Taylor Schaffer, and Max Wing are all identified with the market organization, underscoring that this is an actively managed downtown market operation rather than an informal gathering. The historic legacy emphasis around the site adds another layer to why the market carries local weight in this part of Indianapolis.
This market is defined more by its downtown City Market setting and weekly schedule than by a published vendor roster. The clearest on-site reference points are the market complex itself and the surrounding civic landmarks, which helps set expectations for a midday stop in the center of Indianapolis.
No dogs are allowed, which is the clearest visit rule to plan around before heading to the market. The market takes place at 222 E. Market Street inside the Indianapolis City Market setting, so this is a downtown stop designed for a midweek visit rather than a long weekend browse. It runs on Wednesdays from late morning into early afternoon and only during the May-to-September season, making timing more important here than at a year-round market.
Another practical note: restrooms are not listed as available in the visitor details for this market. The surrounding landmarks — including Monument Circle and the City County Building — place you in the center of downtown Indianapolis, which can help orient a walk-up visit.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at the Original Farmers' Market at Indianapolis City Market. The market also highlights Fresh Bucks, pointing to added food-access support beyond standard payment acceptance. Visitor details indicate payment methods are clearly presented, which can make transactions simpler during the market's short Wednesday window.
SNAP redemption is supported at the City Market information booth on Monument Circle (North Side adjacent to East Market Street). Fresh Bucks matching up to $20 is available once every Wednesday; Fresh Bucks can be spent on produce (fruits and vegetables).

Amazing local farmers market. Lots of different vendors selling different things. Coffee, dessert and pastries, flowers, jewelry. And the food smelled so good, especially the Mediterranean options. Really enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the market. Price was very reasonable and great location right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. Really liked the building with its high ceiling and there was plenty of space to eat in the upstairs sitting area.
A very cool place! A dozen or more food venders of all different cuisines, from American and Mexican, to French and Mediterranean. There is even a florist selling fresh flowers. Located in a historic building, the venders are located in kiosks on the main level, with seating on the second "balcony" style level. There are also some benches outside if you prefer the fresh air. A bar on the second level opens at, or after noon.
Great place to go if you are a foodie. This place has a wide variety of food vendors. They have crepe shops, Greek, Italian, BBQ, bakeries, dessert places, etc. It has a really fun vibe and the upstairs is ideal for families with small children. If you can try to get there before the lunch time rush. I think this is a must do in Indianapolis, though.
I set up office hours here and it has been so great. Reliable wifi and it hasn't been as loud (possibly due to the lack of people here and the variant). I stepped downstairs for coffee runs and bathroom breaks. Historic gem in Indianapolis I encourage locals and visitors alike to visit.
We loved our first time at City Market and the Catacombs tour! It was cool to view the seemingly endless hallways of brick arches and limestone pillars. However, the only negative is that we went on a Saturday where most of the vendors were closed, hence the 4 stars.
