Farmers Market
Batavia, Illinois
Batavia MainStreet ties this market directly to downtown Batavia’s larger calendar of shopping, events, and small-business activity, which gives the market a setting that is more intertwined with the district around it than a standalone parking-lot stop. From May through October, Batavia Farmers Market runs on Saturday mornings and also adds a Wednesday evening market, giving shoppers both a traditional weekend trip and a midweek option in the center of town. The market’s own description keeps the focus on produce, baked goods, artisan products, plants, honey, and related farm products, so the mix starts with food and growing goods rather than drifting into a generic street fair.
N River Street hosts the Saturday morning market, while select Wednesday evening markets shift to South Riverwalk Plaza, placing the market in two named downtown Batavia locations rather than at a single isolated site. Batavia MainStreet also connects the market to its broader downtown work, including the Batavia Boardwalk Shops program that is designed to attract small businesses, create more retail shopping, and bring people into downtown.
That local role is reinforced by the Artisan Collective, which offers pop-up opportunities alongside the Farmers’ Market from May through October, adding another pathway for makers and small sellers to appear in the same downtown orbit. In Batavia, the market sits inside a wider MainStreet effort built around downtown activity, small-business incubation, and regular public programming, not as a one-off weekly event.
The market description points first to farm and pantry staples—produce, baked goods, plants, honey, and related farm products—then expands into artisan goods and downtown food-and-drink businesses that appear in Batavia’s market ecosystem. The result is a mix that combines market basics with nearby makers, prepared food, and specialty retail names tied to downtown Batavia.
No dogs are allowed at the market, so that rule may change plans before you leave home. Timing also matters: the market runs seasonally from May to October, with Saturday morning hours and a separate Wednesday evening slot rather than one uniform weekly schedule.
Location can vary by day. Saturday mornings are on N River Street, while select Wednesday evenings are held at South Riverwalk Plaza. If you are arriving by car as part of market operations, vendor parking is handled separately after unloading, with designated vendor parking areas and exceptions only for disabled parking placards or extenuating circumstances approved by the Market Coordinator. Restrooms are not listed among visitor amenities.
Vendor acceptance is at the discretion of Batavia MainStreet; priority is given to past vendors. Vendors must display pricing and required tax information, and processed/prepared food vendors must comply with Kane County Health Department regulations.

Came to the Batavia farmers market yesterday, Saturday at about 12 noon. Since the weather was perfect, there was tons of people there. So many great choices of various food, including Mexican, American and Thai. Lots of snack, snacks such as cheese, fresh fruits, and vegetables, and even beignets. Lots of local friendly sellers. Would definitely recommend. I believe the farmers market is Saturdays starting at about 8 AM going through about noon.
This farmers market is truly phenomenal. Multiple vendors of eggs, meats, cheeses, pastas, breads, fruits, vegetables, fermented and preserved foods... I was half-way expecting a few veggies fruit and flowers and a ton of those "craft" vendors, but nope, this is a proper farmer's market that you can complete all your standard grocery shopping at with reasonable prices.
This is an awesome farmers market. We ride our bikes on the Fox River trail almost every Saturday, and this is one of our stops. There are so many vendors with live music it's a great time. It must stop down this farmers market won't disappoint Michael R
I live almost an hour away but have made my way to this market on a few occasions. I especially love the fresh artisanal bread and the Fox Fire kombucha, although each visit I find many more great items such as sugar scrubs and pizza. I also enjoy the fresh picked apples. I look forward to future visits to this market.
Great setting by the river with some wonderful vendors. I always come back home with bags overflowing with fresh fruit, vegetables, and baked items plus whatever catches my eye from local vendors. It's become a Saturday morning ritual.
