Farmers Market
Hanalei, Hawaii
Hale Halawai 'Ohana O Hanalei was founded by community members in 1993 and operates as a grass roots 501(c)(3) organization created to sustain a gathering place for cultural education, community engagement, and family services on Kaua‘i's North Shore. That mission gives this Saturday market a distinct frame: it takes place under the umbrella of an organization whose name translates to “A house for the coming together of the extended family of Hanalei,” linking routine produce shopping with the broader work of keeping a community space active in Hanalei.
The strongest local detail here is not a vendor count or a long product roster, but the institution hosting the market. Hale Halawai 'Ohana O Hanalei says it was established out of a need for a gathering place on the North Shore and became the first privately funded community center in the state of Hawai‘i. Its stated purpose is to create and sustain a community center in Hanalei that provides family services and community activities on the North Shore of Kaua‘i.
That wider role shows up in the surrounding work tied to the organization. Hale Halawai lists keiki programs alongside the farmers' market. It also names flood mitigation work and partnerships with groups including the County of Kaua'i, Kaua'i Emergency Management Agency, Sea Grant, the University of Hawai'i, Hanalei Watershed Hui, and Waipa Foundation, placing the market inside a nonprofit with active North Shore ties beyond Saturday sales.
This page identifies the market itself and its host organization more clearly than it catalogs individual sellers, so the most reliable picture is a Saturday farmers' market embedded in a community-center setting rather than a heavily itemized vendor lineup. The market is presented as one part of Hale Halawai's ongoing public-facing activity in Hanalei.
No dogs are allowed, which is the clearest on-site policy likely to change a visit plan. Restrooms are not available, so short, focused errands fit this market better than a lingering stop. The market runs at 55299C Kuhio Hwy in Hanalei, and the contact page also lists the site as 5-5299C Kuhio Hwy, with the same Saturday 9:00am to 12:00pm market hours and the office phone number (808) 826-1011.
Another useful planning note: Hale Halawai's community center office hours are by appointment only, a separate detail from market time that helps set expectations if you arrive outside the Saturday selling window. The host organization serves the North Shore of Kaua‘i and frames participation and contributions as support for its nonprofit work, so a market visit also lands in a space built for family services and community activities, not just transactions.

If you are here on a Saturday 9:30-12:30 then this is a must visit! There's a lot of fresh produce that you someone from the Midwest like me has never seen and would never get fresh. There are also vendors selling cool local products made from honey and other bee-based items. We had some sugar cane juice for the first time. We also got some dragon fruit juice. There was a man singing wonderfully, which added to the overall experience. If you have kids, there is a playground nearby, too.
Such a cool experience. It was great to walk around and actually taste the products from all the different local artisans. A really vibrant atmosphere and a perfect Saturday morning activity on the North Shore.
I met these wonderful folks at the farmers market and they were super friendly and knowledgeable. They had a bunch of toys for the kids to play with! Very professional and kind!
This farmers market was very tiny in February. We managed to find egg fruit, ice cream bean, soursop, avocado... But only 2-3 stalls had fresh fruit and local veg. I wanted more farmers at this farmers market!
It was so nice to stroll through this Farmer’s market. Lots of arts and craft stands but I loved all the local fruits and veggies stands. I got a starfruit hot sauce!! Found local Hawaiian papaya, avocado, okianwan sweet potatoes 🤩😍 I’m so happy. Cold brew coffee was amazing too!
