Farmers Market
Washington, District of Columbia
Arcadia’s Mobile Market at Community of Hope Family Health & Birth Center brings a nonprofit food-access program directly into Washington, DC, through Arcadia’s broader work to build the health of land, food, and community in the National Capital Region. The stop pairs that mission with a specific neighborhood presence at 801 17th St NE, where the mobile format is designed to meet shoppers where they already are. Rather than operating as a standalone plaza market, this location is part of Arcadia’s effort to create equitable, regenerative food systems rooted in the region.
Arcadia is rooted in the National Capital Region, and this mobile market stop reflects that regional focus in a form built around food access, equity, and neighborhood-level service. The organization describes its mission as cultivating vibrant regional food systems that strengthen land, food, and community, with an approach grounded in equity and guided by history.
That matters at this Northeast DC location because the mobile market program is designed for low-food-access neighborhoods and accepts and doubles the face value of SNAP, WIC, and Senior FMNP benefits. Arcadia’s work also extends beyond selling food alone: its farm sits on the historic grounds of Woodlawn Estate, and its broader programming includes education and volunteer opportunities connected to regional food systems.
This stop is defined more by Arcadia’s program structure than by a posted roster of individual farm vendors. What is clearly established here is the market’s connection to Arcadia’s wider food, farm, and education work in the National Capital Region.
No dogs are allowed at this market stop, and restrooms are not available on-site. For a visit that runs smoothly, that pair of details matters more than most setup questions. The market operates at Community of Hope Family Health & Birth Center, 801 17th St NE, as one stop within Arcadia’s mobile market network rather than a fixed large-footprint market.
The season runs from June through October, so timing matters if you are planning around a regular shopping routine. Payment methods are clearly identified, which helps at a mobile format where quick transactions matter. Because this is an Arcadia mobile market location, the emphasis is on direct neighborhood access tied to the organization’s broader food-system mission.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at this mobile market stop. Arcadia also states that its mobile market accepts and doubles the face value of SNAP, WIC, and Senior FMNP benefits, a practical detail that can significantly change the value of a shopping trip at Community of Hope Family Health & Birth Center. Payment methods are presented clearly for visitors planning purchases.
Accepts and doubles the face value of food stamps (SNAP, WIC, and Senior FMNP). Market stops include community engagement; students participate in preparation of local produce.

I love this place. I have been a member since 2007. I love my primary Melanie Vaughn and the practice manager Sherry! They are super wonderful and hopefully they get acknowledged for this. Melanie is super wonderful and helps you through your medical needs. Sherry is also very wonderful and helps with any concerns or complaints. Although, the front desk staff is new from before, they don’t ever seem happy. There energy is low. They need to improve on that. But other than that, this place is awesome!
I haven't even seen my provider yet, but I am already having a very positive experience! Marvin called me to schedule my appointment because I previously joined their waitlist. I informed him that I am having issues renewing my insurance. He said I should still go to my appointment even if I have trouble with my insurance, and I will not be billed even if they have problems billing my insurance. He also said they can actually help me settle my issues with my insurance company. This is such exceptional service. Marvin is a compassionate and intelligent human being! In the midst of crazy...
Wherever they go I shall follow the best yet thank you community of hope for serving your community with dedicated services!!
This program is the best program that I have experienced and the staff , they listen and care, most of all this center makes it happens. Thank you.
I love the midwives so much. My doula recommended the birth center to me and from there I gained a village. I recommend this place for expecting moms. They have so much information to give. I just loved this entire experience. My only complaint is that the books don’t open past 4 days in advance
