Farmers Market
Ridgefield, Connecticut
RIDGEFIELD FARMERS’ MARKET centers its identity on a stated mission: cultivating relationships between local growers and makers within the Ridgefield community while encouraging support for local agriculture and environmental initiatives. That mission sits in a town described as progressive and rooted in an agricultural past, giving the market a clear civic frame rather than a simple weekly shopping stop. The market’s own materials tie that work to Ridgefield’s energetic Main Street and to a seasonal Saturday gathering built around local food, makers, and direct connection to nearby farms. If you want the quick read on its character, this is a producers-focused market with a strong local-first standard and a community-building purpose stated plainly from the start.
The market emphasizes direct relationships with growers, makers, and producers working from their own local land or production space, not a broad reseller mix. Even with limited spots, the named farms and food businesses point to a lineup shaped by agriculture, prepared food, and small-scale specialty production tied closely to Ridgefield’s local network.
The vendor application sets the tone for what appears on the ground: this is a “Producers Only” market, so applicants must grow or make their products themselves on local land or in local production space to be considered. Vendor spots are described as very limited, which suggests a more selective and tightly curated mix than an open-call market.
No dogs are allowed, a rule that may change plans for anyone used to bringing a pet along on weekend errands. The market is located at 88-90 Danbury Road in Ridgefield and runs in a compact Saturday window from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., so timing matters more here than at a long all-day market. Restrooms are not available on site, another practical detail worth planning around before you arrive.
If you are evaluating the market by how it selects sellers, the clearest operational detail is its producers-only standard: vendors must grow or make what they sell on their own local land or space. The organization also frames itself as a newer venture that relies on volunteers for onsite help and committees, which reinforces how community participation is built into the market’s day-to-day operation rather than treated as a side program.
Location: Jesse Lee Greens (Jesse Lee Church grounds), 207 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT. Family activities and live music are mentioned.

If you're craving fresh fruit during winter, head to Ridgefield Organics for a delightful selection of fruits and vegetables! In mid-January, I discovered the ripest, juiciest, and sweetest Sumo mandarins and Spanish plums. For those who consider fresh produce essential for their health beyond what an HMO can offer, Ridgefield Organics is a reliable partner. The manager, Alex, is very knowledgeable and can help beginners make excellent choices. The owner, Mark, is generous and always willing to assist. Great staff all around. Be sure to ask for their email alerts so you can be among the first...
This is my favorite place to grocery shop. RO has the best fruits and vegetables, gorgeous seasonal produce, local mushrooms, hard to find spices and ingredients and the BEST homemade granolas. I love everyone who works there- they even give me carrot tops for my cow! Every beautiful dish I make at home starts at RO.
I love this place. Just moved to area but I’ve been a few times. The produce is always fresh and delicious and their dairy products are unmatched. Also nice gourmet selection, and their dairy guacamole is out of this world
Met the owner today, and he was delightful to speak with about his longevity in the field. It's lovely to support someone who is passionate about having the right employees as well as vendors to give the community the best quality of product and overall consistency.
The vegetables are so good, and the fruit is incredibly fresh and delicious. The store is always clean and well-stocked with high-quality produce. Definitely the best market in Ridgefield, CT!
