Farmers Market
Turlock, California
Turlock Certified Farmers Market frames itself around a clear mission: sustaining local agriculture, promoting community health, and creating a vibrant gathering place while “cultivating tomorrow’s leaders”. That gives this downtown Turlock market a distinct focus beyond a simple weekly produce stop. The market runs on Saturdays from March through December and pairs shopping with recurring community programming, including opening day celebrations and live music performances. Set at W Main Street and S Broadway Street in Downtown Turlock, it brings the market directly into the city center rather than tucking it away on the edge of town.
The market defines “local” as within 50 miles, a concrete standard that shapes who sells here and how close shoppers are to the farms and vendors behind the products. Its FAQ says that approach reduces transit time and costs while aiming to deliver high-quality produce to the community. The same material also says the market wants to connect Turlockians with their neighbors and with the farmers who grow their food.
That local emphasis is reinforced by the market’s broader mission to sustain local agriculture and promote community health. The operation also sits alongside named partners that include CSU Stanislaus, TUSD, the Ecology Center, the California Department of Food and Agriculture, and USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
The strongest documented picture here is a market built around certified selling, regular Saturday dates, and a sizable vendor presence rather than a published roster of individual farms. Event listings describe the market as opening at 9am with more than 50 vendors on featured Saturdays.
Live music is part of the weekly mix on some Saturdays, with performances by Brad Brown and Ricky Jorge named in event listings. The calendar also highlights Opening Day and an International Women’s Day market date.
No dogs is the clearest on-the-ground rule to plan around, especially for anyone used to bringing pets to outdoor markets. Restrooms are available, which matters for longer downtown visits and family shopping trips. The market takes place at W Main Street and S Broadway Street in Downtown Turlock, with Main Street named directly in the market’s landmarks and location details.
If you are planning around the season, this is not a year-round market: the regular schedule runs from March through December on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. Vendor participation is structured, too. The market requires an application fee, a current Certified Producers Certificate for farm sellers, liability insurance naming Turlock Certified Farmers Market, and additional permits for prepared food vendors.
SNAP/EBT is accepted at Turlock Certified Farmers Market, making the market’s local-produce focus usable for shoppers paying with nutrition benefits. Payment methods are otherwise presented clearly for visitors, which helps when planning a Saturday stop downtown.
Public restrooms are available. Dogs are not permitted in or around the market area. Live music is mentioned for at least some events.

This farmers market is much larger than I expected! I parked near Lander and Main St and thought the market was just this section. I didn’t realize that past the railroad tracks at golden state blvd there was another large area of vendors! Luckily we noticed before we headed back to our car! Met some great people and tried some delicious food! I’ll definitely be back!
My opinion, the Turlock Certified Farmer’s Market is one of the best, if not *the* best, in the region. The combo of our beautiful Main Street, the shady trees, tons of great vendors, excellent local storefronts, live music and walkability make this an excellent place to shop, stroll or just hang out and people watch. This is a gem in this town and in the whole region.
Great, I Purchased 3 Lovely, White Peaches, Then Took a Few Pictures of Trees, I Thought The Trees Looked Like Dinosaur Fossils, But The Peaches We Added To A Lovely Fruit Melon Salad. Clumped, to One Side They Really Added A End of The Summer Watermelon, and Cantaloupe Salad in A Huge Bowl for a Birthday Party Quite Lovely.
I’m not sure what another reviewer was posting about but it’s downtown... NOT at the fairgrounds. I just moved here from a much larger city and this market is way better.. if there was more amusement it would borderline being a street fair. Great selections of meat, bread, fruit, veggies, honey, olive oils and a few jewelry/clothing/gifts.
We love supporting our local vendors, farmers and community! Always fresh food, today we got fresh strawberries that smell amazing! We also got some beautiful flowers💐
