Farmers Market
San Francisco, California
Parnassus Certified Farmers' Market @ UCSF sits within a market network run by PCFMA, a nonprofit founded in 1988 with a mission to support California farmers and communities through farmers' markets across the Bay Area. That mission-oriented framing gives this San Francisco stop a clear identity: a certified market connected to a larger regional effort focused on farmers and food access. At 505 Parnassus Ave., the market brings that approach onto the UCSF Parnassus campus, pairing a hospital-and-university setting with direct farm sales and SNAP access. For shoppers nearby, the appeal is straightforward: a year-round certified market tied to a long-running nonprofit operator with California farmers at the center.
The clearest through-line here is producer-focused selling under the PCFMA umbrella, with farm goods rather than a broad entertainment program defining the market. Even with limited public vendor detail, the named farms connected to this market network point to California-grown produce and specialty farm products with strong regional roots.
That mix suggests a shopping trip shaped by working farms from different parts of California rather than a single-county roster, with produce and dairy standing out in the documented vendor examples. PCFMA also highlights seasonal produce across the year in its market materials, reinforcing the expectation of fresh-food shopping tied to California harvest cycles.
No dogs is the key planning detail here, so shoppers bringing pets will need to adjust before heading to 505 Parnassus Ave.. Restrooms are not available as a market amenity, another practical point that can shape the length and timing of a visit, especially on a campus stop between classes, appointments, or work shifts. The market runs year-round, which makes it a steadier option than seasonal pop-ups if you shop on routine. Because this is a certified farmers' market operated within the PCFMA system, expect the emphasis to stay on farm vendors and direct agricultural sales rather than a packed event schedule or extra programming. The UCSF Parnassus address also makes this one feel integrated into an institutional setting instead of a park or plaza market.
SNAP/EBT is accepted here, and PCFMA explicitly frames EBT, WIC-FMNP, and Market Match as tools that make fresh food more affordable at its farmers' markets. That gives this market a practical edge for shoppers using food benefits, while also fitting the nonprofit's stated mission of supporting both California farmers and Bay Area communities through its markets.
PCFMA notes that some markets may include music, arts and crafts, and children’s activities, but the scraped content does not specify which amenities apply to this specific market.

We just brought our friend to UCFS because he needed a higher level of care. Jerry was assaulted and stabbed with a 12 knife.... He is the victim in a senseless act and now needs the best he can get and deserve!! We met Dr.Carter and his surgical team and they were like super heroes coming to his rescue!! Words cannot do enough justice for the gratitude we feel for these caring people!! Thank you for making our friend Jerry feel hope for the first time in a long time!! Stay tuned surgery is in 3weeks ... Once again thank you and God bless you all!!
From the moment I entered UCSF at 400 Parnassus Ave., I have received the most impressive thoughtful and excellent care from Dr. Waseem Ahmad, his staff, and the front desk. I also appreciate it very much the generous explanation that Dr. Ahmad has provided me before and after my Colonoscopy. He is my hero.
Always the best health care available. World class health care provider with cutting edge, leading technology and the most up to date diagnostic and treatment services. The staff are always courteous, professional, helpful, and friendly. I have been here a dozen times, over the past 30 years, for myself as well as, for friends and family. I couldn't have asked for better care. A truly remarkable institute.
Unique in its brilliance. Great education. Great people. Amazing setting atop a hill overlooking Golden Gate Park. The rigor and seriousness is precious, I went there for medical school in 1979. Did a psychiatric residency there in 1984.
This hospital has been a great alternative to the SFVA for my care in primary, rheumatoid, and ophthalmology. I’ve seen some great improvements in overall health since I started going 2 years ago.
