Farmers Market
Birmingham, Alabama
At 2829 2nd Avenue South, The Market at Pepper Place runs as a year-round Birmingham market with both Saturday and Wednesday shopping windows, giving this address a regular weekly rhythm rather than a once-a-week appearance. The vendor roster ties that schedule to a broad mix of farm names, prepared-food makers, makers, music, and a nonprofit guest, all gathered under the Pepper Place market banner. For shoppers, that means one stop can lean practical or browse-heavy depending on the day: pick up mushrooms, pastries, salsa, peanuts, or farm goods, then linger for the extra pieces that show up in the Saturday setup.
The listed lineup mixes farms, food producers, artists, and recurring Saturday features instead of sticking to a produce-only format. The result is a market where staples and side discoveries sit close together, from agricultural vendors to bakery goods, music, and nonprofit tables.
Saturday also carries a few extra programmed elements. The market posts live demos beginning in May, alongside the live music schedule and nonprofit guest listing for that Saturday setup.
No dogs is the clearest policy to factor into your plan here. The market operates at 2829 2nd Avenue South, with free street parking and additional free parking in surrounding lots, which makes arrival simpler if you are driving in for a larger shop. Accessible parking spaces are available, and ramps lead to restrooms for wheelchair users. Saturdays open 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, while Wednesdays run 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, so the day you choose changes your shopping window. The market also maintains a weekly newsletter for market and community updates.
SNAP is accepted at The Market at Pepper Place. The market also highlights DUFB alongside its SNAP program, signaling added support around eligible food shopping at this market. Payment methods are presented clearly for visitors, which helps if you are planning a regular grocery stop rather than a casual pass-through.
Outdoor rain-or-shine market; no sales before 7:00 AM and all sales must be made by 12:00 PM. Market policies include no loitering/soliciting/panhandling, no smoking or vaping during market hours, and pets must be kept on a short leash.

Pepper Place is one of our favorite things to go to on a beautiful Saturday morning. Fantastic variety of vendors! We always leave with sourdough bread, chocolate croissants and chicken salad. This is a must!
Terrific local farmers market. Pet friendly, great vibes near downtown Birmingham. Highly recommend Hinkel's Artisan Bread & Pastry!! Both sweet & savory fresh baked goods. Family owned & operated folks that go the extra mile!
So glad the farmer’s market is opening up during the week. I’m never able to make it on Saturdays, but today (Tuesday) my family and I had an awesome time. Vendors were really nice and took time explaining their products. Can’t wait to visit again!
Pepper Place has been a mainstay of our spring and summer for about 20 years now. Before we moved downtown, we would drive from Hoover to the farmers market multiple times each year. Now starting our 8th spring living downtown, we make the 5 minute drive to Pepper Place pretty much every Saturday that we are in town. From fresh strawberries, to tasty boiled peanuts, to the delicious mushrooms, we buy wonderful produce from our favorite farmers every week. It’s one of the reasons we moved downtown, and still one of our favorite outings.
